Written by Though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.
Paul’s testimony reminds us that no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace. Before encountering Christ, he actively opposed the very faith he would later preach. Yet God’s mercy transformed his life and gave him a new purpose. This passage reveals the depth of Christ’s love and His willingness to forgive even the greatest sins. When we recognize our need for a Savior, we discover that God’s grace is greater than our past failures. Jesus came into the world to save sinners, offering hope, forgiveness, and new life to all who trust in Him.
