Embrace Humility: How God Guides the Teachables

man in beige cap carrying a sheep on his shoulders

God doesn’t guide the loud, the proud, or the self-sufficient, He leads the humble who are willing to follow. Lay down your pride, and watch how clearly His path unfolds before you.

📖He will guide the humble in justice. He will teach the humble his way. Psalm 25:9

God delights in guiding the humble. Those who surrender pride and seek Him sincerely are not left wandering. Humility opens our hearts to God’s instruction and aligns our steps with His truth. When direction feels unclear, resist self-reliance. God promises to teach those who are teachable. Bow your heart before God, trust His wisdom, and allow Him to lead you gently. God teaches the humble not just where to go, but how to walk faithfully with Him. When we approach Him with openness, He leads us faithfully.

Thought to Ponder:
Ask God to reveal any pride blocking direction.

Journal Prompt:
How does humility affect my ability to hear God?

Prayer:
🙏Dear Heavenly Father, teach me Your ways and humble my heart. Help me to surrender my pride and have an open heart. In Jesus Name Amen.

Psalm 2:1-12; The One True King

Open Bible opened to Psalm 23 alongside previous Psalms pages with a lit candle on wooden surface

The One True King

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel. Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

Unshakeable

This Psalm reveals the futility of humanity resisting God’s authority. Nations may rage, leaders may rebel, and the world may try to reject His rule, yet God remains sovereign and unshaken. The psalm points to the power and kingship of Jesus Christ, the Anointed One, who will reign with justice and truth. It is both a warning and an invitation: turn from pride, submit to God, and place your trust in Him. True peace, security, and blessing are found not in human power, but in surrendering to the Lord.

The Chosen One

“The Reign of the Lord’s Anointed,” is considered a royal psalm that focuses on the sovereignty of God and the victory of His chosen king. It tells us of the rebellion against God’s authority, His divine intervention, and ultimately the establishment of God’s righteous rule.

Defiance

It begins showcasing how the nations and rulers will conspire against the Lord and His anointed one, the king whom God has set on Zion, His holy hill. The writer is in awe at the defiance of these rebellious nations, wondering why they would gather and plot against the Lord and His chosen ruler. We see this again when John is seen in Revelation 19:19 And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies gathered to make war against him who was sitting on the horse and against his army.

Comic Releif

God responded to this opposition laughing from heaven, and mocking their pointless attempts to overthrow His authority. God proclaims that His son is the anointed king on Zion, giving Him dominion over the nations. Which was told and heard in Matthew 3:17 behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

1 Peter 1:6–7

Bible open to 1 Peter chapter 1

In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Peter reminds believers that trials are not meaningless interruptions to faith; they are often the very tools God uses to strengthen it. Just as gold is purified through intense heat, genuine faith is refined through difficulties, hardships, and seasons of uncertainty. These tests reveal what is real, producing endurance, trust, and spiritual maturity. While suffering can be painful, God is at work, shaping a faith that is more valuable than earthly treasures. One day, when Christ is revealed, the faith that endured through trials will bring glory, honor, and praise to Him.

1 Timothy 1:13-15

Page from the Bible showing the title 1 Timothy and text from Paul's epistle including warnings against false doctrine

Though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.

Paul’s testimony reminds us that no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace. Before encountering Christ, he actively opposed the very faith he would later preach. Yet God’s mercy transformed his life and gave him a new purpose. This passage reveals the depth of Christ’s love and His willingness to forgive even the greatest sins. When we recognize our need for a Savior, we discover that God’s grace is greater than our past failures. Jesus came into the world to save sinners, offering hope, forgiveness, and new life to all who trust in Him.

Psalm 1:1–3

Open Bible opened to Psalm 23 alongside previous Psalms pages with a lit candle on wooden surface

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;  but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.

crooked trees growing over river

These verses paint a picture of a person who chooses God’s way over the influence of the ungodly. Rather than following sinful advice or embracing worldly values, they delight in God’s Word and meditate on it continually. As a result, they become spiritually strong and fruitful, like a tree planted beside a flowing stream that never lacks nourishment. Even through difficult seasons, they remain rooted, steadfast, and productive. This passage reminds believers that true blessing, stability, and spiritual growth come from a close and consistent relationship with God and His truth.

James 1:14–15

Bible book of James

But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.

James revealed that temptation often begins within our own desires. When sinful desires are entertained rather than resisted, they grow and eventually lead to sinful actions. If sin continues unchecked, it produces spiritual destruction and separation from God’s best for our lives. This passage is a warning to guard your heart and mind carefully, recognizing temptation before it takes root. God provides strength and wisdom to overcome temptation, but victory begins with acknowledging the battle early and choosing obedience over desire. Every small choice matters in your walk with Christ.

Hundreds Of Farmers Stay Silent During Auction So Family Can Buy Back Their Family Farm

aerial view of agricultural land

This is a story from from 2019 that will give you hope for humanity as hundreds of farmers in Nebraska stood in silence during an auction so that a young man could buy back his family’s farm. Credit: Cornwall Holiday Guide David’s family had been farmers for decades but, unfortunately, an ancestor decided to sell the 80-acre farm. This made the entire family upset but David was determined to win it back again. When the land went up for sale again through an auction, David and his father decided that they would save up money to buy the land back. On the day of the auction, more than 200 farmers were present. David thought there was no way they would have enough money to outbid the other farmers. But the farmers did something nobody was expecting.

After David and his father placed their bid, not a single person spoke up. As it turns out, those 200 farmers did not attempt to bid because they wanted the family to get their land back. After many attempts to solicit another bid, the Auctioneer took a break. Three times they took breaks, and each time everyone remained completely silent. Eventually, the auctioneer had to slam down the gavel and give David and his father the winning bid. “I’ve had two profoundly humbling days in my life,” David said. “The first was the day my son was born. The second was that unforgettable day at the auction house.”

Proverbs 13:20

Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.

This reminds us that the people we spend time with have a powerful influence on our thoughts, attitudes, and direction in life. Wise companions encourage godly decisions, strengthen our faith, and help us grow in character. On the other hand, continually following foolish influences can lead us away from God’s best. This verse is an invitation to evaluate our relationships and seek friendships that inspire wisdom, integrity, and spiritual growth. The company we keep today often shapes the person we become tomorrow.

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

This verse reminds believers that our words have the power to either build up or tear down. God calls us to speak in ways that encourage, strengthen, and benefit those who hear us. This means avoiding harmful, careless, or destructive speech and choosing words filled with grace, truth, and kindness. Before speaking, it is wise to ask whether our words will help others grow and draw closer to God. As followers of Christ, our conversations should reflect His love and bring life, hope, and encouragement to those around us.

Matthew 6:22

Bible opened to Matthew

“The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light,

In this verse Jesus teaches that what we focus on shapes our entire life. Just as a lamp illuminates a room, our spiritual vision influences our thoughts, attitudes, and actions. When our eyes are fixed on God, His truth, and His kingdom, our lives are filled with spiritual light, wisdom, and direction. On the other hand, when we continually focus on sinful, worldly, or unhealthy influences, darkness can begin to cloud our judgment. This verse is a challenge to carefully consider what we are allowing into our hearts and minds, knowing that our focus ultimately affects our walk with God.

This 10-Year-Old Saved Up for a 3D Printer and Built a Business From Scratch

pexels-photo-30260904.jpeg

Most 10-year-olds spend their free time playing video games, but Ernesto Gael Hernandez is busy running his own 3D printing business and dreaming of buying his mom a house someday. Ernesto / Credit: KRGV News What began as a fun way to make custom keychains for classmates has quickly grown into a thriving small business for the young entrepreneur from Brownsville, Texas. Now, with multiple printers running at once and products being sold in a local store, Ernesto is already turning creativity into success while most kids his age are still deciding what game to play after school.

Inside a small workshop at home, Ernesto spends his days designing and printing colorful creations including keychains, whistles, can openers, and fidget-style items meant to help people dealing with anxiety, ADHD, and stress. “I would wake up early and set something to print while I’m at school or after school,” Ernesto said. “Before football practice, I would also print something.” The idea first took shape just a few months ago when Ernesto told his mother he wanted to earn money through 3D printing. Instead of simply buying him a machine, she encouraged him to work and save for it himself. “My mom said that I could save up my chore money and buy my own 3D printer with my money,” Ernesto explained.

After saving $500, Ernesto bought his first printer and launched Prestige 3D Labs. He taught himself how to create custom designs by watching online tutorials and quickly realized there was real demand for his products. “I saw tutorials on YouTube on how to edit and make custom keychains for other people,” he said. Business has grown fast. Ernesto says he has already made around $1,500 in profit, and demand became so strong that he partnered with a local Brownsville clothing store called Jungle to help sell his creations. “The business is called Jungle and I wanted to sell my product there,” Ernesto said.

“I told them if they wanted to sell my product.” Now, three printers run regularly to keep up with orders coming in from across the Rio Grande Valley. For Ernesto’s mother, Samantha Quezada, the business has become more than just a way for her son to earn money. It has also become valuable time spent together. “It’s a handful, but honestly I enjoy that we get to do it together,” Quezada said. “It is part of our quality time.” She admits balancing school, football practice, and a growing business can sometimes be stressful, but she believes the experience is teaching Ernesto lessons that will last a lifetime.

“As tiring as it may be, sometimes it’s a little bit stressful. Time management is hard,” she said. “But it’s been one thing that we enjoy doing. We get to do it together and it keeps him on the right path.” And while Ernesto is already enjoying success at an age when many kids are just beginning to explore hobbies, his motivation is surprisingly heartfelt. “I just like doing it because I want to invest in a house for my mom and me when I grow older,” Ernesto said.

white printer paper on brown wooden table

For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven:

In the Book of Ecclesiastes verse 3:1, we’re reminded that life moves in seasons, every moment has a divine purpose under heaven. This verse emphasizes timing, patience, and trusting God’s plan, even when life feels uncertain or out of control. It does not matter whether or not you’re in a season of waiting, growth, loss, or breakthrough, this scripture encourages faith over fear. God’s timing is never random, it’s intentional, purposeful, and perfectly aligned with your journey. Understanding your season can unlock peace, clarity, and spiritual growth.

The News Part 1

Dear Heavenly Father, as this is read give understanding and conviction to those reading this. May there be understanding where there needs to be understanding and conviction where there needs to be conviction. Please soften the hearts of those reading this and open them to receive Your message. In Jesus Name Amen

Over the last few days I have seen all of the fighting, the name calling, insults, character bashing and I wonder why. We as Christians and human beings are told that we should not return evil with evil: 1 Peter 3: 9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

That is one definition of Respect. With that said I do not blame any of the uncertainties that there are out there. I will just say one thing and that is CAKE, we all know what happened. But we have been commanded: Romans 12: 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.

I know that when we observe the respect that we are expected to give others yet receive disrespect in every manner that you can imagine, it gets disheartening. We are still told that 1 Peter 23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.

We should always respond with meekness: Matthew 5: 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.

We have been instructed to follow in the footsteps that Jesus gave us, to walk on the path that he took. 1 Peter 21: 21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

There are two things that we should never forget, his commandments to LOVE one another: Matthew 22: 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. And with that said never forget: Luke 6: 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you. Jesus did not say these things were acceptable but he did say we need to Love everyone. Continue……

The King is Coming

Jesus entering Jerusalem on a donkey, surrounded by people with palm branches.

They shouted “Hosanna” like a King was arriving, but didn’t realize a Savior was surrendering. Don’t just celebrate Jesus for what you want Him to do, honor Him for who He truly is.

Those who went in front and those who followed cried out, “Hosanna!* Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Mark 11:9

When Jesus entered Jerusalem as a humble King, and not as the political ruler people expected. He came as the Savior they desperately needed. The crowd was excited and praised Him, but most of them misunderstood His mission. If we are honest with ourselves we can do the same, celebrating Jesus while resisting His true authority in our lives. Sometimes we will overwhelmingly proclaim Jesus until it makes us uncomfortable or it gets in the way of something we want to do. This week, Easter week, begins with honest reflection: do we welcome Jesus fully, or only partially? True worship starts with surrender, looking past the end of our nose to see what is beyond, not just praise.

Thought to Ponder:
Take 10 minutes to invite Jesus into every area of your life, especially the ones you’ve held back.

Journal Prompt:
Where in my life am I praising Jesus, but not fully surrendering to Him?

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, I welcome You not just as Savior, but as King over every part of my life. Remove my misunderstandings, illusions, and shame.  Please help me see You clearly, distinctively, and understandably. Teach me to surrender fully and follow You wholeheartedly. In Jesus Name Amen.

*Hosanna:

  • The word Hosanna comes from Hebrew: “hoshia na”, which means “save us now”, “please save.” or “help us, we pray”.Over time, especially in worship, it also became a joyful expression meaning “salvation has come!” or “praise to the Savior.”
  • It’s a word that holds both desperation and hope, need and faith, all at the same time.

Break Free and Run the Race

photograph of a rusty anchor near a rock

Break free from sin, and run your race like it matters. We must understand, getting rid of our anchors will still keep us in the race. ⚓️

📖Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us- Hebrews 12:1

There are things in our life that aren’t sinful, but they are slowing us down. Just like a runner removes anything that adds unnecessary weight, God tells us we need to let go of the extra baggage that is hindering our spiritual progress. We might have distractions, unhealthy habits, toxic influences, or misplaced priorities. These spiritual blinders quietly drain our strength and dull our focus. Endurance requires intentional release. We cannot run freely while holding onto an anchor⚓️ that God is asking you to release and surrender. When you let go, you make room for greater clarity, strength, and purpose. Freedom begins when you release what you were never meant to carry.

Thought to Ponder:
Identify and remove one thing that is hindering your spiritual growth.

Journal Prompt:
What is one “weight or anchor” I need to lay down to run my race more effectively?

Prayer:
🙏Dear Heavenly Father, show me what is slowing me down, the extra weight or anchor I don’t think I can give up. Give me the courage to release anything that hinders my walk with You. Help me run with freedom and focus. In Jesus Name Amen.

Letting God Take the Lead

man carrying an animal over his shoulders

2 Peter 2:1-3

Stone monolith with ancient scripts, illustration of a man pointing at a wolf, and text: BEWARE FALSE PROPHETS.

But false prophets also arose among the people, as false teachers will also be among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, denying even the Master who bought them, bringing on themselves swift destruction. Many will follow their immoral ways, and as a result, the way of the truth will be maligned. In covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words: whose sentence now from of old doesn’t linger, and their destruction will not slumber.

Peter warns that false teachers will arise among believers, quietly introducing destructive lies while appearing convincing. They exploit others with smooth words and twisted truth, driven by greed and self-interest rather than faithfulness to God. Though they may seem successful for a time, their judgment is certain. This passage calls believers to stay discerning, grounded in truth, and alert to teachings that distort the gospel for personal gain.

When your strength runs out and fear begins to rise, remember this truth: God does His greatest work in our weakest moments. Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the…

 God Uses Tired People

Even the strongest believers grow tired. Faith does not remove exhaustion, it gives us strength to keep going when our strength is gone. God does some of His deepest work in us during the seasons when we feel the most worn down. Therefore we don’t faint, but though our outward person is decaying, yet our…

 Do Not Fear Tomorrow

Tomorrow is the birthplace of many fears, yet it is also the place where God’s faithfulness is already waiting. Anxiety pulls tomorrow’s trouble into today. Jesus reminds us that today already has enough to hold. God gives grace one day at a time. Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for…

 Slow Growth Is Still Growth

A lot of times God does His greatest work where we see the least progress, quietly growing faith beneath the surface while we simply remain faithful. He said, “God’s Kingdom is as if a man should cast seed on the earth, and should sleep and rise night and day, and the seed should spring up…

 Fear Can Be Faced

Courage begins where certainty ends. When the path ahead feels unknown and the weight of responsibility feels heavy, God calls His people not to retreat in fear, but to step forward in faith. His command to Joshua reminds us that strength does not come from our ability, but from God’s faithful presence. Haven’t I commanded…

Fear Does Not Come From God

Fear may shout loudly in a broken world, but it does not come from God, He has given His people power, love, and a sound mind to stand firm and live courageously in Christ. For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7 Focus: Fear that…

Fear vs. Faith

Storms often reveal what we truly believe about God’s presence and power. He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? How is it that you have no faith?” Mark 4:40 Focus:When the storm raged and the disciples panicked, Jesus asked a revealing question: “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”…

 Because Still Standing Counts

The pain of discipline may sting today, but we are reminded that endurance turns today’s struggle into tomorrow’s strength, producing a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who refuse to quit. 💪📖🔥 All chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to…

🌹To the Mother Who Keeps Going🌹

Person in gray hoodie sitting on sofa holding head in hands surrounded by clutter and toys

Dear Mother,

We know that you may not hear it every day, but what you do matters more than you know. Every early morning, every late night, every prayer whispered through tears, every sacrifice made in silence, God sees it all.

You have moments when motherhood can and will feel exhausting. Sometimes you’ll wonder if you are doing or have done enough. Sometimes the weight of responsibilities will feel overwhelming, and sometimes you may feel unnoticed or unappreciated. But the truth is this: your love is shaping lives every single day.

The Bible reminds us in Galatians 6:9:

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

You need to know and understand that God never asked mothers to be perfect. He simply asks you to remain faithful. The little things you do each day, the encouraging words, the loving hugs, the patient teaching, and faithful prayers, are planting seeds that will one day bear fruit.

  • Your kindness teaches compassion.
  • Your strength teaches perseverance.
  • Your faith teaches trust in God.
  • Your love teaches what grace looks like.

Even when nobody notices your efforts, heaven always does.

Remember that some of the greatest people in Scripture were influenced by faithful women who simply trusted God and kept going. Hannah prayed through heartbreak. Mary trusted God through uncertainty. Eunice and Lois passed their faith down to Timothy. Their stories remind us that a mother’s influence is powerful and eternal.

Psalm 46:5 says:

“God is within her, she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.”

Know that you are stronger than you realize because God is sustaining you. On the days when you feel weak, He is your strength. On the days when you feel empty, He is your peace. On the days when you feel discouraged, He is your hope.

Never believe the lie that your role is small. The hands that rock the cradle truly help shape the future. Your words, prayers, and faithfulness will impact generations that you may never even see.

If today feels difficult, remember this:

  • You are loved.
  • You are valued.
  • You are needed.
  • You are not alone.

God walks beside you in every season of motherhood, the joyful moments, the emotional ones, the overwhelming ones, the chaotic ones, and the painful ones alike. He understands your heart completely.

Isaiah 40:31 declares:

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles…”

God will renew your strength for the journey ahead.

So keep praying.
Keep loving.
Keep believing.
Keep trusting God.

There will be a day you will look back and realize that even in the hardest moments, God was using your faithfulness to build something beautiful.

May the Lord bless you with peace when you are anxious, strength when you are tired, wisdom when you are uncertain, grace when you feel overwhelmed, and joy in knowing that your labor is never in vain.

You are making a difference every single day.

Thank you for who you are and what you do!

Proverbs 18:19

High-angle view of a sprawling ancient stone city surrounded by high walls and watchtowers.

A brother offended is more difficult than a fortified city. Disputes are like the bars of a fortress.

This verse reveals the deep pain and resistance that comes from broken relationships. When someone is wounded, especially by a close friend or family member, their heart can become like a fortified city, guarded and difficult to reach. Betrayal builds walls that are far harder to tear down than physical barriers. This verse reminds us to handle relationships with care, humility, and wisdom, because reconciliation is often much harder than prevention.

Palm Sunday; The King Who Came Differently

bunch of green palm leaves on lime background

Palm Sunday is the hallmark for the beginning of the most important week in human history. This was the moment when Jesus entered Jerusalem, not in secrecy, but in fulfillment of prophecy, revealing Himself as King. However, the way He came to earth challenged every expectation. Today, we are invited to examine not only who Jesus is, but whether we are truly receiving Him as He is.

📖Bible Verses

  • “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”Mark 11:9
  • “See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey.”Zechariah 9:9
  • “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”Luke 19:38

Palm Sunday is a moment that is filled with excitement, celebration, and deep spiritual significance. Jesus entered Jerusalem as crowds gathered, laying down palm branches and cloaks, shouting praises and declaring Him King. It appears to be a triumphant moment, and it was, but not in the way people expected.

The people had been waiting for a Messiah, the one who is ordained by God to lead the people of Israel. For generations, they had dreamt of being freed from oppression, especially from under Roman rule. They expected a powerful leader, someone who would overthrow the tyrannical governments, establish dominance, and restore Israel’s national glory. So when Jesus entered the city, performing miracles and teaching with authority, hope surged through the crowd.

But Jesus didn’t come riding a war horse. He came on a donkey.

This was not a small detail, it is deeply symbolic. In ancient times, kings would ride a horse into battle, but they only rode donkeys in times of peace. When Jesus did this He was declaring something powerful: His declaration was indeed He was King, but He was not the kind of king they expected. He came not to conquer nations, but to conquer sin. Not to overthrow Rome, but to defeat death. This reveals one of the central tensions of Palm Sunday: the difference between expectation and reality.

The crowd was shouting “Hosanna,” which means “save us now.” But their understanding of salvation was significantly limited. They expected immediate relief from their circumstances, not transformation of their hearts. They wanted a political solution, while Jesus came to provide an eternal one.

And here is where this story became personal.

How often do we approach Jesus with our own expectations? We want Him to fix our problems, change our situations, remove discomfort, but we resist when He begins to change us. Like the crowd, we may praise Him in one moment and question Him in the next when He doesn’t meet our expectations. Palm Sunday challenges us to ask: Do we truly want Jesus as King, or just as a helper?

Another powerful truth is how quickly public opinion can change. The same crowd that shouted “Hosanna” would a few days later, cry out “Crucify Him.” This should show us the instability of emotional faith. It is so easy to praise God when things look promising, but the second something gets hard, what happens when the path leads to difficulty?

Jesus knew exactly what He was walking into. He knew the punishment of the cross was coming. However He still entered Jerusalem willingly. He did not avoid the pain, He walked straight toward it. This is the heart of the Gospel: a Savior who does not run from suffering, but embraces it for the sake of others.

Palm Sunday is not just about celebration, it is about the beginning of sacrifice.

As Jesus entered the city, He also wept over it; When he came near, he saw the city and wept over it. Luke 19:41. While the people rejoiced, Jesus grieved. Why? Because He knew many would miss the true meaning of His coming. They were close to salvation, yet far from understanding. This is a sobering reminder that it is possible to be near Jesus, yet not truly know Him.

The palm branches symbolize victory and triumph. The people were declaring victory, but they didn’t yet understand what that victory was or how it would come. True victory would not come through force, but through surrender. Not through power, but through sacrifice. Not through taking life, but through giving it.

Jesus redefined what it means to win.

Palm Sunday invites us into true redefinition. It calls us to lay down our expectations, our control, and our limited understanding and to receive Jesus fully as He is. It calls us to respond. The people laid down their cloaks, symbolically placing their lives before Him. This act represents surrender, honor, and submission. They were making a path for the King.

The question for us today is:

  • What are we laying down before Jesus?
  • Are we willing to lay down our pride?
  • Our plans?
  • Our need for control?
  • Are we willing to follow Him, even when the path leads to a cross before it leads to a resurrection?

Palm Sunday is not the end of the story, it is the beginning of a journey that leads to Good Friday and ultimately to Easter Sunday.

The King has come. But He comes differently than expected.

  • He comes in humility.
  • He comes in peace.
  • He comes with a mission to save, not just temporarily, but eternally.

And He still comes today, asking to enter not just a city, but our hearts.

Thought to Ponder:

Take time today to intentionally “lay something down” before Jesus, whether it’s control, fear, a plan, or a burden. Surrender it in prayer and invite Him to truly be King over that area.

Journaling Prompt:

Where in my life have I placed expectations on Jesus instead of surrendering to His will? What does it look like for me to fully receive Him as King?

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for coming as our King, humble, loving, and full of purpose. Forgive us for the times we have misunderstood You or tried to shape You into our expectations. Teach us to surrender fully, to trust Your plan, and to follow You with unwavering faith. As we enter this Holy Week, prepare our hearts to walk with You, from the celebration to the cross, and ultimately to the victory of the resurrection. In Jesus Name Amen

Luke 19:41

A sorrowful man in ancient robes sits on a hill overlooking Jerusalem at sunset.

When he came near, he saw the city and wept over it

I this verse Jesus approaches Jerusalem and weeps over it, revealing His deep compassion and sorrow for a people who missed their moment of salvation. Though He knew the coming judgment, His heart broke not in anger, but in love. This verse reminds us that God’s desire is not destruction, but repentance and that even in rejection, His mercy still mourns for us.

Mark 11:9

Jesus riding a donkey through a crowd holding palm branches and signs reading "HOSANNA".

Those who went in front and those who followed cried out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!

In this verse the crowds cry out in celebration as Jesus Christ enters Jerusalem, shouting “Hosanna!* Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” This moment reveals both joy and expectation, people welcoming a Savior, yet not fully understanding His mission. It reminds us to praise God wholeheartedly, even when we don’t yet see the full picture of His plan.

Faithfulness Matters More Than Speed

a yellow lamborghini on concrete road

In a world that celebrates speed and success, God is quietly honoring something much deeper, faithfulness.

📖“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ Matthew 25:21

God is not asking you to be the fastest, He’s asking you to be faithful. In a world obsessed with results and recognition, it’s easy to feel like you’re falling behind. But in God’s kingdom, success is measured differently. Faithfulness in the small things, consistency in the quiet moments, and obedience when no one is watching, these are what matter most. Your pace may feel slow, but if you are walking in obedience, you are right on time. Don’t compare your journey to others. Stay committed to what God has called you to do. In the end, it won’t be about how fast you ran, but how faithfully you finished.

Thought to Ponder:
Stay faithful in the small things today.

Journal Prompt:
Where is God calling me to be more faithful, even if it feels unnoticed?

Prayer:
🙏Dear Heavenly Father, help me to value faithfulness over recognition. Teach me to stay steady and obedient, even when progress feels slow. Let my life honor You in every step. In Jesus Name Amen.

God Directs the Willing

a close up shot of a pedestrian sign

Trust, Surrender and Release!

📖Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.📖  Proverbs 3:5–6

God’s direction begins with surrender. Trusting Him fully means, releasing our need to always trying to be in control of outcomes. When you lean only on what you understand, you limit what God is able to reveal. But if you submit your plans to Him, He promises to make your path straight, not always easy, but always purposeful. Direction flows from trust, not certainty.

Thought to Ponder:
Surrender one unresolved decision to God today.

Journal Prompt:
Where am I relying on my own understanding instead of God’s?

Prayer:
🙏Dear Heavenly Father, I place my trust in You. Guide my steps and straighten my path. Lord help me to trust You when it is hard and understand that You have got it even when it is hard. In Jesus Name Amen.

You’re Not Alone in This Fight

close up shot of a fist bump

You’re surrounded by a legacy of faith; so drop the weight, break free from sin, and run your race like it matters. We must understand, endurance isn’t optional, it’s the proof you’re still in the race.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us- Hebrews 12:1

We tend to feel isolated in our struggles, but you are not alone in your race. There are generations of believers who have faced trials, endured hardships, and remained faithful and their lives testify that perseverance is possible. More importantly, God Himself is with you. He sees what you’re doing, your pain, and your persistence. The enemy wants and always tries to get you to believe you’re the only one struggling, but that’s a lie designed to weaken and make you give up. You are part of something bigger, a story of faith that spans generations. Take courage. Others have endured, and so can you. And the same God, who sustained them, is sustaining you.

Thought to Ponder:
Reach out for encouragement and remember you are not alone.

Journal Prompt:
Who can I connect with for encouragement in my faith journey?

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that I am not alone. Surround me with Your presence, place me under Your pinions and surround me with people who will encourage my faith. Strengthen me to keep going, knowing You are with me. In Jesus Name Amen
