Chrysler is recalling more than 1.27 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks because the second-row seat belt buckle anchors may have been improperly installed, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The recall affects Ram 1500 trucks from the 2019 through 2026 model years. NHTSA said the anchors fail to meet federal safety standards. An improperly installed anchor may not properly restrain rear-seat passengers, increasing the risk of injury in a crash, according to the agency. Dealers will inspect the seat belt buckle anchors and reattach them to the vehicle’s body structure as needed, free of charge.

Chrysler said it plans to mail owner notification letters starting Aug. 18. Vehicle identification numbers included in the recall will be searchable at NHTSA.gov starting Aug. 6 under campaign number 26V495. Owners with questions can contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and reference recall number 67D. They can also reach NHTSA’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
