Written by Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me.
In the verse David is praying in the morning while people who hate him are watching, hoping he will mess up. We can see that he does not first ask God to destroy his enemies. Instead, he asks God to guide him according to God’s own goodness, not David’s own ideas. “Make your way straight” means David wants God to make the right path obvious so he will not stumble or give his enemies a reason to accuse him. The verse teaches that when we feel attacked or pressured, our first need is clear direction from God, not an easier life.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, protect me from deception and ground me in your truth. Help so that I do not believe everything that makes me feel good. lead me today in Your righteousness. When people watch or oppose me, help me follow Your way instead of my own. Make the path You want me to walk clear and straight. I trust You to guide me. In Jesus Name Amen.
