Chosen 8

Dear Heavenly Father, I will do my best to have humility always offering kindness to everyone. Continuously having a meek heart trying to understand every situation that surrounds me, with Your help and direction I will present myself as Your representative. Thank you Lord for this opportunity, may I never let You down. In Jesus Name Amen

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience Colossians 3:12

Chosen 4

Dear Heavenly Father, I have done things in my life that make it impossible for me to comprehend the notion that you would forgive me. To have all of my sin forgiven, standing spotless in front of you guiltless and unblemished. Thank you for Your sacrifice so I am covered through the blood of Jesus Christ. In Jesus Name Amen

Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will. Ephesians 1:4-5

Dear Heavenly Father, please help me to understand the awesome love that You hold. Lord please remind me when I am being arrogant, help guide me through any bitterness that I retain against anyone or anything. Lord help me to show everyone the love that You have shown me, thank you Lord. In Jesus Name Amen

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.     1 Corinthians 13:1-8

Place it Before God as an Offering

When I study the bible I will pray and look at different translations to try and comprehend what it says beyond my own understanding trying not to lean on the experiences that life has taught me (the world). When I was reading this devotion, and then rereading it, I was saying to myself; yea I have a problem of thinking that I can handle everything myself. Honestly I try to take care of it at times; sometimes it will work resulting with a short term fix, but when I truly want it fixed in the end I “attempt” to give it to God. As I was reading I am convincing myself that I do a pretty good job in the end of giving it to Him. So first I read NIV, ESV, NKJV, AMP and I get to the Message and it hits me like a brick. “Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking.” Romans 12:1-2 Message I have in some aspects embraced the “culture” of being disgusted with everything that is currently happening in the world, the intolerance, lack of respect, politics; I could go on and on. I have become comfortable to fit into some facets of it “without even thinking”, because after all that is the right thing to do. Watching the news and observing the lack of values, what is now considered to be acceptable has put this cultural stumbling block in my way. Hanging onto these issues make a very unpleasant way of looking at things! WOW IS THIS NEGAITIVITY WHAT I AM PLACING BEFORE GOD AS AN OFFERING? IS THIS THE BEST I CAN DO FOR HIM? DO I THINK I AM SMART ENOUGH THAT I CAN TELL GOD WHAT TO DO?
Dear Heavenly Father, please forgive me for thinking that my actions control the outcome of what You have already set into motion. Lord I will do better to present a more appropriate offering to You, giving everything to you, constantly yearning to always do my best for You. In Jesus Name Amen.

Trust is Faith

Dear Heavenly Father, guide every step I take because I know if You are in the lead I will never be guided down the wrong path. Help me to see the way You want me to go so that I do not make the wrong decision, with so many trails to travel I sometimes get blinded by all of the flash and glitz. Just show me the route that You desire me to take. In Jesus Name Amen

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

Does this offend you? Will you turn and leave?

Dear Heavenly Father; I know that there are going to be things that I do not understand and issues that I think are not I know better. Lord give me the perseverance and understanding to see past my feelings and see what is in Your heart. Have patience with me while I learn to share the heart You have, the compassion, ultimate understanding and forgiveness so I can become more like You. In Jesus Name Amen

On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?” Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, “Does this offend you?  Then what if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before! The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life. 64 Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him. He went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.” From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve. John 6: 60-67

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the air in my lungs and the life that You have given me. Help me to recognize those around me, how I am no better than anyone else and they are no better than me. We are all the same yearning to know the grace that You have given us. With my head bowed and my hands reaching to the heavens I have no words to express my gratitude I love You. In Jesus Name Amen

Acts17: 25-26 God giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth

What are you looking at!

Dear Heavenly Father, always help so that I see others the way You see them. Help me to see that our outward appearance may be different but that our hearts all yearn to have a relationship with You and desire to know You. In Jesus Name Amen

For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7

I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge—God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you. Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:4-9

Come together!

Dear Heavenly Father; as we come together as a family in Christ and fellowship. I need your help to remind me of my frailties, helping me curb my ego so I can show the unreserved understanding You give me on a daily basis. In Jesus Name Amen

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16

Time & Punishment

Today I was thinking about something that I used to fight with inside myself. Why does God punish me? Now that God has shown me and helped me understand more of what it is to be a Christian I understand that God does not punish us: Romans 8:1-2 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,  because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. I have learned that he disciplines us like any good dad would do. God is treating you as one of His children. Hebrews 12:7-8 For what children are not disciplined by their father?  If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. I have found however that sometimes these things happen so that we will be able to help others in the future. I know that as we are going through this discipline it is disagreeable to us but we need to remember Hebrews 12: 10-11 God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

Now on the other hand we have the devil in the mix he tries to make you question if you should live a life for Christ. He can make you question if there is a God! In 2 Corinthians 4 4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel it explains that the devil has some dominion over us. There is an awesome story in the bible about a man named Job; Satan said that he could prove to God that the only reason that Job followed God without fail was because God protected him Job 1:10-11 10 “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. 11 But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.God knew Job 8 “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.” He knew Satan was wrong so he agreed to let Satan test Job 12 The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.” Throughout Jobs life he had everything taken away from him, in a sense he was tortured. His family was taken away, his wealth, and his health. Job stayed strong and in the end all that had been taken was replaced Job 42 10-11 After Job had prayed and endured all the hardships, always depending on God, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before. All his brothers and sisters and everyone who had known him before came and ate with him in his house. They comforted and consoled him over all the trouble the Lord had brought on him, and each one gave him a piece of silver and a gold ring.

To close, we should thank God, repent of the things that we have done wrong and thank Him for everything He has done for us!

Psalms 107:1-43  Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story— those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south. Some wandered in desert wastelands, finding no way to a city where they could settle. They were hungry and thirsty, and their lives ebbed away. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He led them by a straight way to a city where they could settle. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.  Some sat in darkness, in utter darkness, prisoners suffering in iron chains,  because they rebelled against God’s commands and despised the plans of the Most High. So he subjected them to bitter labor; they stumbled, and there was no one to help. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he breaks down gates of bronze and cuts through bars of iron. Some became fools through their rebellious ways and suffered affliction because of their iniquities. They loathed all food and drew near the gates of death. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind. Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of his works with songs of joy. Some went out on the sea in ships; they were merchants on the mighty waters. They saw the works of the Lord, his wonderful deeds in the deep. For he spoke and stirred up a tempest that lifted high the waves. They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths; in their peril their courage melted away. They reeled and staggered like drunkards; they were at their wits’ end. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind. Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people and praise him in the council of the elders. He turned rivers into a desert, flowing springs into thirsty ground, and fruitful land into a salt waste, because of the wickedness of those who lived there. He turned the desert into pools of water and the parched ground into flowing springs; there he brought the hungry to live, and they founded a city where they could settle. They sowed fields and planted vineyards that yielded a fruitful harvest; he blessed them, and their numbers greatly increased, and he did not let their herds diminish. Then their numbers decreased, and they were humbled by oppression, calamity and sorrow; he who pours contempt on nobles made them wander in a trackless waste.  But he lifted the needy out of their affliction and increased their families like flocks. The upright see and rejoice, but all the wicked shut their mouths. Let the one who is wise heed these things and ponder the loving deeds of the Lord.

Our Friend

As I sat down yesterday and prayed about what I should share. God gave me a lot to share. This was information that I had heard but had never been pointed to so directly!

  1. Jesus loves us he said it in his own words John 15:9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.” I have talked with so many people that said nobody loves me; they feel depressed, unwanted and unloved! However if you think about what Jesus said, he loves us, he said this, it was him, the words came out of his mouth! I have found if I have a feeling of despair or feel unloved I just have to sit down pray and read the bible he will show me what I need to hear.
  2. Jesus Commanded John 15:12 “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” If Jesus loves everybody why can’t we? You know that is a big pill to swallow when I look around I see and feel the hatred that so many have. Do you realize though that for some people we may be the only love (light) that they experience? Just a smile, holding a door open for someone, tell them to have a nice day god said; Luke 6:31 “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” I have found that when I treat others the way that I want to be treated they will usually follow my lead, we might be the only breath of fresh air that they get the whole day.
  1. Jesus chose you John 15:16 “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you” John 15:19 “I have chosen you out of the world”. Jesus chose you to be his personal friend John 15: 14-16 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. Jesus tells us that we are not a servant of God but his friend. He laid down his life for his friends so that we would be saved from the world. Have you ever had a friend that you became so close and had such a great relationship that they became your brother or sister (brother from another mother). This is what Christ considers us! He asks one thing in return to follow his commands (John 15:12 “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”) Smile at someone, let someone know you care, just show them love!
