 God Isn’t Finished Yet

Your current struggle is not your final chapter. Even when progress feels slow, God is still working behind the scenes.


Being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6

Endurance is not sustained by your strength, but by God’s faithfulness. This verse reminds us that the work God began in us is not unfinished or forgotten. Even in seasons of struggle, delay, or weakness, He is actively shaping our faith. Growth may feel slow, but it is never wasted. When you are tempted to quit, remember that God does not abandon His work. Stay faithful in the process. What He started, He will complete refining you, strengthening you, and carrying you forward until the day His purpose is fully revealed.

Speak this truth today: God is still working in me.

Where in your life do you feel unfinished, discouraged, or tempted to give up? Reflect on how God may still be working in that area. What would it look like to trust His process today and take one small step forward in endurance, even without seeing immediate results?

Samhain is an ancient Celtic festival that originated in Ireland and other Gaelic regions, traditionally marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter, or the “darker half” of the year. It is considered one of the four major Gaelic seasonal festivals, alongside Imbolc, Beltane, and Lughnasadh. In modern times, it’s often associated with the origins of Halloween and is observed by some neopagans, Wiccans, and cultural enthusiasts as a time to honor ancestors and reflect on the cycle of life and death.

The word “Samhain” (pronounced approximately as “SOW-in” or “SAH-win”) comes from Old Irish and literally translates to “summer’s end” in Gaelic languages. It does not stand for an acronym or abbreviation but is a descriptive term rooted in the seasonal transition from the warmer months to the colder, harsher period ahead.Celebrations of Samhain historically and in contemporary practices vary, but they often blend ancient customs with modern interpretations. Key elements include:

  • Bonfires and Feasting: Large communal bonfires were lit to ward off evil spirits, provide warmth, and symbolize the sun’s return. People would gather for feasts using the last of the harvest, sharing food like apples, nuts, and root vegetables. In some traditions, a portion of the meal is set aside as an offering to spirits or ancestors.
  • Honoring the Dead and Divination: It was believed that the veil between the living world and the spirit realm thinned during Samhain, allowing ancestors and otherworldly beings to cross over. Rituals might involve setting places at the table for deceased loved ones, telling stories about them, or performing divination practices like scrying (using mirrors or crystal balls) to foresee the future, often related to marriage, health, or prosperity.
  • Costumes and Guising: To protect against wandering spirits or fairies (known as the Aos Sí in Irish folklore), people wore disguises made from animal skins or simple masks. This evolved into the modern Halloween tradition of dressing up. In Scotland and Ireland, “guising” involved children going door-to-door reciting verses or performing tricks in exchange for food or coins.
  • Modern Observances: Today, neopagans might hold rituals in sacred circles, including meditation, chanting, or lighting candles on altars adorned with seasonal items like pumpkins, leaves, and photos of ancestors. Some communities host public festivals with music, dancing, and educational events about Celtic heritage. In places like Ireland, it’s still marked with fireworks, parades, and markets, especially around October 31.

Samhain is typically observed from sunset on October 31 to sunset on November 1, aligning with the Celtic day starting at dusk. While it has influenced Christian holidays like All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, it remains a distinctly pagan or cultural event for many.

These rituals blend folklore with intuition, often performed after bonfires or feasts. Modern adaptations may incorporate tools like journals for recording insights, ensuring the practice remains respectful and personal. If practicing, prioritize ethical considerations, such as seeking consent from spirits and grounding yourself afterward to close the session.
