Rudyard Kipling once wrote, “all of us are we–and everyone else is they.” A family shares things like dreams, hopes, possessions, memories, smiles, frowns, and gladness…A family is a clan held together with the glue of love and the cement of mutual respect. A family is shelter from the storm, a friendly port when the waves of life become too wild. No person is ever alone who is a member of a family.

So today you might be standing in line waiting with 1000 other people. You’re trying to get the best deal of the year on that gift that is the must purchase item of the year. When you think about, it takes love, patience, and even a little madness to deal with the chaos that is Black Friday. Something to remember when you are out there: Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. ^{1 Corinthians 13:4-7 ESV}

Always remember the best gift that you can ever give your family is an introduction to Jesus Christ. Use the examples that Christ has given us for the family we have been gifted with. Jesus laid down His life, John 3:16, so that His family, that’s you, was protected from the junk that the devil throws at us. Make sure the foundation your family is being built around is the love and direction of Jesus Christ. Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. ^{Psalm 128:3 ESV} Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate. ^{Psalm 127:3-5 ESV}

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the family you have given me. From the start, I was given a dad and mom that looked to you. Through the example my grandparents gave I learned to love. It was not always smooth, sometimes just plain messy. But the family I had and have now is exactly what I wanted and could not do without. Thank you again. In Jesus Name Amen

When they came before him, the monarch asked the prisoner, “What will you give me if I release you?” “The half of my wealth,” was his reply. “And if I release your children?” “Everything I possess.” “And if I release your wife?” “Your Majesty, I will give myself.” Cyrus was so moved by his devotion that he freed them all. As they returned home, the prince said to his wife, “Wasn’t Cyrus a handsome man!” With a look of deep love for her husband, she said to him, “I didn’t notice. I could only keep my eyes on you- -the one who was willing to give himself for me.”

Have you ever considered what sacrifice is? The definition of sacrifice is: to surrender or give up, or permit injury or disadvantage to, for the sake of something or someone else. Most parents would sacrifice themselves for their children not only financially, but even give their lives to save them. Some of us sacrifice our time to help others. Some will stand up and walk the line for the rest of us in the military. There are those through out history who have given their lives to make sure that our nation is free. The biggest sacrifice that anyone has done or will ever do for you is what Jesus did for us on the Cross. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 ESV But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ^{Romans 5:8 ESV}

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the sacrifice that You did for me. Lord to know that I have been forgiven for the stupid things that I due gives me comfort. I cannot thank you enough that You were willing to suffer for someone like me. In Jesus Name Amen

I am thankful to be chosen and to be where we are. If you are here it is because He wants you to be here, He has also chosen you. Not because we appreciate it but because He is quickening your heart. He wants you with Him having eternal life. You are one of His children, John 1:12 ESV. The only way to get to know someone is to learn about them, who they are, and what they stand for. In the words of Jesus He says: “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide”. John 15:16 ESV

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for choosing me. Just like it says in 1 Peter 2:9 You took me out of the darkness and helped me to see the light. Looking back I can see that You were always there. Thank you Lord for taking the blinders off so that I know see clearly. In Jesus Name Amen
