Today is Easter; the day Jesus said He would rise and live. It is proof that He had conquered death, to show He was in control. It is the day you were given freedom from the accusations of the devil. You are Good Enough

There was a rock hound named Rob Cutshaw owns a little roadside shop outside Andrews, North Carolina. Like many in the trade, he hunts for rocks, then sells them to collectors or jewelry makers. He knows enough about rocks to decide which to pick up and sell, but he’s no expert. He leaves the appraising of his rocks to other people. As much as he enjoys the work, it doesn’t always pay the bills. He occasionally moonlights, cutting wood to help put bread on the table. While on a dig twenty years ago, Rob found a rock he described as “purdy and big.” He tried unsuccessfully to sell the specimen, and according to the Constitution, kept the rock under his bed or in his closet. He guessed the blue chunk could bring as much as $500 dollars, but he would have taken less if something urgent came up like paying his power bill. That’s how close Rob came to hawking for a few hundred dollars what turned out to be the largest, most valuable sapphire ever found. The blue rock that Rob had abandoned to the darkness of a closet two decades ago — now known as “The Star of David” sapphire — weighs nearly a pound, and could easily sell for $2.75 million.

Do you or have you ever consider yourself worthless, not good enough, or inadequate? Do you look at those around you and say “man they really have it together, I could never be like that.” Do you feel like no one loves you, cares about you, and that you’d never be missed? God wants you to know that you are just like this sapphire to Him, you are priceless even though you do not see it yourself.

Did you know that Christ hung out with the “sinners,” not the people sitting in the temples? He would hang out with the people everyone else classified as losers and misfits. We’re told that we are all the same in His eyes the person that is sitting on the street corner or the CEO of a multi billion dollar company. Your local homeless shelter volunteer and the person that is sitting on death row.

Without Jesus in their lives they are lost and hurting just in different ways, we all have something we are working on.  He repeated so many times that He came to save those who did not know his love. They questioned Him why He would do that and attacked Him because of the company He chose to keep. Do not ever think that you are not good enough. He loves you; in His own words: For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. Luke 19:10 Those that are sitting in church have been found that does not mean they are perfect. They are still working every day with the help of Gods love and direction. Never forget only one was free of sin, Jesus Christ, we all have our battles. Nobody is above you and nobody is below you!

Dear Heavenly Father, sometimes I have to admit that I do not understand what you’d see in a person like me. I mess up all the time, I am not always bad but I fall short sometimes. You suffered and got nailed on cross to put a road block between me and the devil. Lord thank you. In Jesus Name Amen

Thankful For Family

Psalm 128:3

Rudyard Kipling once wrote, “all of us are we–and everyone else is they.” A family shares things like dreams, hopes, possessions, memories, smiles, frowns, and gladness…A family is a clan held together with the glue of love and the cement of mutual respect. A family is shelter from the storm, a friendly port when the waves of life become too wild. No person is ever alone who is a member of a family.

Always remember the best gift that you can ever give your family is an introduction to Jesus Christ. Use the examples that Christ has given us for the family we have been gifted with. Jesus laid down His life, John 3:16, so that His family, that’s you, was protected from the junk that the devil throws at us. Make sure the foundation your family is being built around is the love and direction of Jesus Christ. Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. Psalm 128:3 ESV Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate. Psalm 127:3-5 ESV

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the family you have given me. From the start, I was given a dad and mom that looked to you. Through the example my grandparents gave I learned to love. It was not always smooth, sometimes just plain messy. But the family I had and have now is exactly what I wanted and could not do without. Thank you again. In Jesus Name Amen

Thankful For Sacrifice

It is said that Cyrus, the founder of the Persian Empire, once had captured a prince and his family. When they came before him, the monarch asked the prisoner, “What will you give me if I release you?” “The half of my wealth,” was his reply. “And if I release your children?” “Everything I possess.” “And if I release your wife?” “Your Majesty, I will give myself.” Cyrus was so moved by his devotion that he freed them all. Have you ever considered what sacrifice is? The definition of sacrifice is: to surrender or give up, or permit injury or disadvantage to, for the sake of something or someone else. Most parents would sacrifice themselves for their children not only financially, but even give their lives to save them. Some of us sacrifice our time to help others. Some will stand up and walk the line for the rest of us in the military. There are those through out history who have given their lives to make sure that our nation is free. The biggest sacrifice that anyone has done or will ever do for you is what Jesus did for us on the Cross. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 ESV But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 ESV

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the sacrifice that You did for me. Lord to know that I have been forgiven for the stupid things that I due gives me comfort. I cannot thank you enough that You were willing to suffer for someone like me. In Jesus Name Amen

Thankful for His Protection

Thankful to be walked through chaos

Lorrie Anderson, missionary to the head-shrinking Candoshi Shapra Indians of Peru, was looking for a quiet place for her daily time of Bible reading and prayer, so she went down by the edge of the river. After reading the Bible, she took up her prayer list. Eyes closed, she did not see the deadly anaconda weaving through the water until it struck, burying its fangs into her flesh. It withdrew to strike, hitting her arm again and again as it held her screaming in its coils. It reared up for the death blows. Then suddenly, the giant snake, never known to release its prey, relaxed its grip and slithered off through the water. While Lorrie was being treated, a witch doctor from a nearby village burst into the hut and stared at her. She couldn’t believe Lorrie had survived. She said her son-in-law, also a witch doctor, had chanted to the spirit of the anaconda that morning and sent it to kill the young missionary. “I’m certain,” Lorrie said, “that except for the protection of God, it would have worked.”

We are so thankful for the protection that God gives each one of us everyday. We have been told, and we speak from experience, that: When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. Isaiah 43:2 ESV

Throughout the Bible we are told many times that He protects His children. He has told us that we will be safe from weapons Isaiah 54:17, enemies Psalm 138:7, and even death Psalm 23. I have had many experiences with how much God protects us. Car, motorcycle, and snowmobile accidents I walked away from. Being shot at multiple times, He has protected me and there have been people that have tried to destroy me. Ultimately God has protected me from the plans of the the devil Ephesions 6:12.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for protecting me through all of the chaos, turmoil, sickness and everyday life. Thank you for protecting me from my own stupidity. Thank you for protecting me from people that have not had the best of intentions. Thank you Lord for being the teflon that keeps these things away. In Jesus Name Amen

Thankful

Thankfulness seems to be a lost art today. Warren Wiersby illustrated this problem in his commentary on Colossians. He told about a ministerial student in Evanston, Illinois, who was part of a life-saving squad. In 1860, a ship went aground on the shore of Lake Michigan near Evanston, and Edward Spencer waded again and again into the frigid waters to rescue 17 passengers. In the process, his health was permanently damaged. Some years later at his funeral, it was noted that not one of the people he rescued ever thanked him.

Worthy

He created everything; the air we breathe, the people we love, yeah even the ones we don’t. The people who have been created all of the good things we have, and yes, even the bad. But that is why He put us here, it’s to take care of the wrongs. You have been created for a time like this. He knows you; remember you got all of this, sometimes it’s rough, but He’s there. Who told you to condemn

Condemnation, it’s everywhere I look there is an overwhelming “everyone sucks” mentality that seems to have gone into overdrive. If you do not agree with someone you hate them. If you believe different than them you are an idiot. People that are in charge using the “stuff” that is going on to support a personal agenda that is not the best for everyone. Everyone has come to expect the worst in every situation. Sadly everyone has become guilty until proven innocent, where innocence is just an opinion of the beliefs in that person’s mind.

When it comes down to it, we need to realize who is throwing the gas on the fire. Do not forget, there is only One that is in a position to help. Understand that in the midst of the chaos, there are some that would not give you a fire extinguisher if they had it. The condemnation is part of a deception to keep hate, mistrust and anger going. Always remember that God sent a fire extinguisher to help us deal. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. John 3:17 ESV

Strength Training

Rest in the Lord wait for His direction and walk in His strength. Spread your wings and fly leaving the “stuff” that’s weighing you down and never looking back. Resting in the Lord would include focusing on Him. Praising Him and surrounding yourself in His word. Like any other exercise regiment the best way to keep up your strength is through repetitions. Always praise Him, always focus on Him, and always listen to the words He has given us.

Cleansed

There are so many “things” that are out there that will distract us. They will take our attention and direct it in so many different directions that sometimes it is hard to focus on our daily life. We often will categorize what is most important leaving God on the bottom of the list. When losing our focus on God we lose the best coach/leader/director that we have access to. Always consult Him first in every thing that you do.

Work is hard. Distractions are plentiful. And time is short.

Nothing to Big

When everything around us, you know the “stuff” that keeps on kicking at the door. It always seems to never end and keeps piling up. The pile is getting so large it’s hard to take a breath or relax because of what’s around the next corner. Know that you are not alone. No Road Blocks

We always try to convince ourselves that we’ve done too much, we’re too bad to be saved. Why do I even try? He has reassured us that it is our “stuff” that separates us. He told us nothing on this earth will keep you from His love! Stop accepting anything else! Like I stated the only thing that will keep you from knowing Him is you. He is waiting for you to take the step and open the door.

Stop the Spin

Everything seems so out of control right now. It’s like we are all caught in an out-of-control spin. It is time to put your foot down and focus on the only way out.  

There were 128 runners in the field for the cross-country race at the 1993 NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships. As they set out on the 6.2 mile run, they were following a course that had been marked for them by the race officials. Toward the end of the course, one of the runners in the middle of the group realized something was wrong. Mike Delcavo of Western State College in Colorado saw that the main pack had missed the turn. “I was waving for them to follow me and yelling ‘This is the right way,’” he told an interviewer after the race. 

Delcavo was right—but only four other runners followed him. The rest continued on the shortcut, which allowed them to run a shorter distance and finish the race sooner. In a widely-criticized decision, race officials allowed the abbreviated route to stand as the “official course” and Delcavo officially finished 123rd. 

The world does not always reward staying on track—literally or figuratively. But the path we follow is important to God. One day, those of us who have already trusted Christ for our salvation will appear before the Lord for an evaluation of our service. Our entrance to Heaven is sure—that was settled when we received Christ. But rewards—or the loss of them—for how we spent our lives are not so sure. When we stand before the Lord, no shortcuts will be recognized, and only those who have run the race by His guidebook will be honored.  Story from: Scorecard, Sports Illustrated, December 27, 1993

Right now we have so much “stuff”, you know all the junk, that is distracting us from looking at what is important. We need to stop drowning ourselves in the events of the day. It has taken us away from our family, friends and neighbors it makes us look suspiciously at those who do not deserve it. Because of all of the turmoil we tend to focus on ourselves. We don’t look to the One who has the answers, God. When we are focused on Jesus all of the other “stuff” will have a way of working its self out. 

Becoming familiar with our owner’s manual, the bible, we are told:  For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Romans 15:4 ESV Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. Proverbs 16:3 ESV Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Proverbs 4:25 ESV Look to God and quit being distracted by everything that is going on around you (I have to fight with this one myself distractions are everywhere). Not only pray but look to what we have been already instructed to do in these situations. We are told that He will walk through this “stuff” with us: No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 

Stop looking to the world to fix your “stuff” remember: Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2 ESV I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Psalm 32:8 ESV He tells us to look to Him but you need to take the first step. Do not believe what others tell you the Bible says, not even me. Read it yourself pray and ask God to reveal what it says.  

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good Romans 12:21 ESV Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. Colossians 3:2 ESV Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105 ESV As you can see He will #help you walk through the #junk you are dealing with we all just need to turn to Him in everything we do. He has the directions to #follow we just need to read them. Remember: When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. Isaiah 43:2 ESV No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.” Isaiah 54:17 ESV  

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to see the direction that we need to walk. Give us the strength to walk the path that You want us to travel. Thank you, Lord, for giving us the opportunity to be here today. In Jesus Name Amen

This last year, 2020, for a lot of us is one that we are happy, glad and even Joyful to see the year pack it’s bags and leave. Remember that what has happened in the past cannot be changed it does not help to focus on the “oh I should have”, or the “oh I should not have”. God has told us:  “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:18-19

Make a resolution this year to focus on God and not all the junk that always tries to consume us, pray more, read the bible more, enjoy your loved ones more. Don’t worry about things so much God takes care of us : Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Matthew 6:26

Love God first and love those who you are around they are the ones that are there for you that He has placed in your life to love, to help and for support: Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this opportunity to look further into Your word so that I may understand who You are, where You are coming from and what You have for me. In Jesus Name Amen

In Psalm chapter 27 David reminds us that “The Lord is our light and salvation” so concluding this study into Psalm 27 we have the three translations in their entirety. Now that we know some of the deeper definitions of the words lets read them and you will see that it will be understood in a whole new light.

The Lord, who is the believer’s light, is the strength of his life; not only by whom, but in whom he lives and moves. In God let us strengthen ourselves. The gracious presence of God, his power, his promise, his readiness to hear prayer, the witness of his Spirit in the hearts of his people; these are the secret of his tabernacle, and in these the saints find cause for that holy security and peace of mind in which they dwell at ease. The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh, my adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall. Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident.

One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple. For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord.

Light, space, zest that’s God! So, with him on my side I’m fearless, afraid of no one and nothing. When vandal hordes ride down ready to eat me alive, Those bullies and toughs fall flat on their faces. When besieged, I’m calm as a baby. When all hell breaks loose, I’m collected and cool. I’m asking God for one thing, only one thing: To live with him in his house my whole life long.

I’ll contemplate his beauty; I’ll study at his feet. That’s the only quiet, secure place in a noisy world, The perfect getaway, far from the buzz of traffic. God holds me head and shoulders above all who try to pull me down. I’m headed for his place to offer anthems that will raise the roof! Already I’m singing God-songs; I’m making music to God. Listen, God, I’m calling at the top of my lungs: “Be good to me! Answer me!”

When my heart whispered, “Seek God,” my whole being replied, “I’m seeking him!” Don’t hide from me now! You’ve always been right there for me; don’t turn your back on me now. Don’t throw me out, don’t abandon me; you’ve always kept the door open. My father and mother walked out and left me, but God took me in.

Point me down your highway, God; direct me along a well-lighted street; show my enemies whose side you’re on. Don’t throw me to the dogs, those liars who are out to get me, filling the air with their threats. I’m sure now I’ll see God’s goodness in the exuberant earth. Stay with God! Take heart. Don’t quit. The Lord is my revelation-light to guide me along the way; he’s the source of my salvation to defend me every day. I fear no one! I’ll never turn back and run from you, Lord; surround and protect me. When evil ones come to destroy me, they will be the ones who turn back.

My heart will not be afraid even if an army rises to attack. I know that you are there for me, so I will not be shaken. Here’s the one thing I crave from God, the one thing I seek above all else: I want the privilege of living with him every moment in his house, finding the sweet loveliness of his face, filled with awe, delighting in his glory and grace.

I want to live my life so close to him that he takes pleasure in my every prayer. In his shelter in the day of trouble, that’s where you’ll find me, for he hides me there in his holiness. He has smuggled me into his secret place, where I’m kept safe and secure out of reach from all my enemies.

Triumphant now, I’ll bring him my offerings of praise, singing and shouting with ecstatic joy! Yes, listen and you can hear the fanfare of my shouts of praise to the Lord! God, hear my cry. Show me your grace. Show me mercy, and send the help I need!

Lord, when you said to me, “Seek my face,” my inner being responded, “I’m seeking your face with all my heart.” So don’t hide yourself, Lord, when I come to find you. You’re the God of my salvation; how can you reject your servant in anger? You’ve been my only hope, so don’t forsake me now when I need you! My father and mother abandoned me.

I’m like an orphan! But you took me in and made me yours. Now teach me all about your ways and tell me what to do. Make it clear for me to understand, for I am surrounded by waiting enemies. Don’t let them defeat me, Lord. You can’t let me fall into their clutches!

They keep accusing me of things I’ve never done while they plot evil against me. Yet I totally trust you to rescue me one more time, so that I can see once again how good you are while I’m still alive! Here’s what I’ve learned through it all: Don’t give up; don’t be impatient; be entwined as one with the Lord. Be brave and courageous, and never lose hope. Dear Heavenly Father, For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. Psalm 139:13-16 ESV Surround and protect me and keep me safe from those who wish bad things upon me. Protect me from those that have heard false rumors and believe that they are true, forgive them Lord because they do not know what they are doing. Lord protect me like I am still in my mother’s womb.
