Temptation 1

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” But He answered and said, “It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: He shall give His angels charge over you and In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.” Jesus said to him, “It is written again, you shall not tempt the Lord your God.” Again the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, “you shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.” Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him. ^{Mark 4:1-11}

When we read this there is so much knowledge we can gain if we look a little deeper in the notion of temptation. The synonyms of temptation are: Lure, enticement, attraction, offer, invitation, pull, bait, turn-on, desire, urge, impulse, compulsion, longing, wish, appeal. When we look at these words used to describe what temptation is it really is no wonder why the devil is able to deceive us as easy as he does. Dear Heavenly Father, please give me Your unrelenting understanding and forgiveness You have for each one of us. Lord please help me to see people the way You see them, it is hard sometimes to love when it always feels like I am being persecuted. I will never be able to imagine the sacrifice that You did for me. In comparison to the heartache and suffering that You endured it does not seem like much, but Lord it makes it hard to share love when I look through these eyes. Please help me be empathetic to others while putting aside this unloving frame of mind helping me to see the good and not the bad. In Jesus Name Amen

Lord keep me safe like Isaiah 43:2 so when I pass through the waters, be with me and when going through the rivers, let nothing overwhelm me. When I walk through the fire do not let it consume me. Did you know that God loves you, He is always there for you. God protects you and He has made you His temple! Have you every driven around your town and seen some of the old school churches? They are so beautiful, the craftsmanship that went into them is inconceivable. Think about when they where built, they did not have heavy equipment it was all done by the sweat off their brow. You can see the pride that they had to build these buildings. Lets think about what God did for us; He formed us with His own hands: Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. ^{Genesis 2:7} and now we are told not only did He form us but we are made a temple that within this temple God himself dwells! We have been given such an awesome gift that all we can do is say thank you Lord and respect and nurture what He gave us.

Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? ^{1 Corinthians 3:16}
