Guest Shuts Down Bill Maher’s Attempt to Trash Operation Epic Fury

Bill Maher missed the target when trying to cast Operation Epic Fury as a disaster last night, which got shut down by guest Douglas Murray, who outlined how this military action was a tremendous strategic success. Now, what’s the off-ramp here? That’s a legitimate question, as the Trump White House has all but said the military objectives behind Epic Fury have been met, more or less:

Justice Department says it has prosecuted $500 million in healthcare, COVID fraud claims in 3 states

hands in handcuffs holding rolls of money

Article Dig Deeper The Justice Department said this week that it has wrapped up health care fraud investigations in three states which had cost Americans over $500 million among the respective parties. The announcement comes the same week that the Justice Department created its National Fraud Enforcement Division, which is a major step in the Trump administration’s efforts to crack down on misuse of public funds. The Justice Department said it has finished its healthcare fraud investigations in California, Florida and Nevada and secured either guilty pleas, settlements or sentences.

“Thanks to the leadership of President Donald Trump, the department, working closely with the Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, is supercharging efforts to take down every fraudster and bring them to justice,” Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said. “In one day, the Department prosecuted the theft of a half-billion in taxpayer dollars. All those ripping off the American people are on notice.” The largest haul came from California, where a scheme defrauded American consumers of $269.1 million, according to the Daily Signal. Paul Randall, 66, of Orange, pleaded guilty this week for his role in the pharmacy plot. Two others pleaded guilty in the scheme in 2024 and 2025.

Trump removes US Attorney General Pam Bondi

Newsroom with staff discussing a breaking news headline stating 'Pam Bondi Fired' on screens.

US President Donald Trump has removed Attorney General Pam Bondi – a longtime ally and fierce defender of his administration – from her post as America’s top law enforcement officer. Trump praised her in a post on Truth Social and said she would be “transitioning” to a role in the private sector. Bondi’s time leading the justice department was often overshadowed by its handling of the release of files relating to Jeffrey Epstein and its investigation into the convicted sex offender. She is the second Trump administration official in recent weeks to be cut from her post, after Kristi Noem was ousted as homeland security chief in March.

Bondi will be replaced by her former deputy, Todd Blanche. Bondi said she would be “working tirelessly” to transfer her work to Blanche, adding that the job had “been the honour” of a lifetime. She added that in her new private sector position – which she did not identify – she would “continue fighting for President Trump and this administration”. The announcement comes less than two months after a combative congressional hearing in which Bondi was peppered with questions from lawmakers – at times descending into shouting matches in which she called one Democrat a “washed-up loser”. As recently as Thursday morning, Trump was defending Bondi, saying: “She is a wonderful person and she is doing a good job.” But hours later, Trump confirmed her departure on Truth Social, saying that her new private sector role would be “announced at a date in the near future”.

And He said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”

Hegseth ousts Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George

historic wwii tank at normandy in france

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has asked Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George to step down and take immediate retirement, sources familiar with the decision told CBS News.  One of the sources said Hegseth wants someone in the role who will implement President Trump and Hegseth’s vision for the Army.  Chief Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said in a statement that George “will be retiring from his position as the 41st Chief of Staff of the Army effective immediately. The Department of War is grateful for General George’s decades of service to our nation. We wish him well in his retirement.”

A senior Defense Department official told CBS News, “We are grateful for his service, but it was time for a leadership change in the Army.”  George previously served as the senior military assistant to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin from 2021 to 2022, during the Biden administration, after decades of service. A career infantry officer and West Point graduate, George first served in the first Gulf War and the more recent conflicts of Iraq and Afghanistan.  The Army chief of staff typically serves a four-year term. George was nominated for the position by President Joe Biden and confirmed by the Senate in 2023, meaning he would typically have held the position until 2027.

Iran announces new strikes on U.S., Israeli targets hours ahead of Trump speech as he threatens to pull U.S. out of NATO

Busy newsroom with journalists working while a large screen displays BREAKING NEWS: IRAN.

What to know about the Iran war today: President Trump will deliver an update on the Iran war Wednesday night after saying he expects to end U.S. operations in two to three weeks. Mr. Trump is also expected to say that the U.S. military is meeting or exceeding its operational benchmarks, a White House official told CBS News. Iran announced a new wave of strikes on U.S. and Israeli targets hours ahead of Mr. Trump’s remarks.

Energy and stock markets reacted positively to Mr. Trump’s remarks about the war, with oil falling back below $100 per barrel despite Iran’s threat to target U.S. tech companies and warnings that leaving the Strait of Hormuz under Tehran’s control could cause lingering pain for the global economy. Mr. Trump has told Britain’s Telegraph newspaper he could attempt to pull the U.S. out of the transatlantic NATO alliance it’s led for more than seven decades, as he vents frustration at America’s closest allies for declining to join the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran. Mr. Trump is expected to criticize NATO in his prime-time address, a source told CBS News.

Supreme Court to hear arguments over Trump’s birthright citizenship order today

The U.S. Supreme Court building and American flag under a dramatic sunset sky.

Washington — The Supreme Court will convene for arguments Wednesday to consider the legality of President Trump’s executive order that seeks to end birthright citizenship. The question in the case, known as Trump v. Barbara, is whether the president’s directive complies with the 14th Amendment’s Citizenship Clause and federal immigration law enacted in 1952. Mr. Trump issued the executive order on the first day of his second term as part of his plans for a sweeping immigration crackdown, but it has not taken effect because of decisions from lower courts finding it is likely unlawful. The White House’s official schedule for Wednesday says Mr. Trump will personally attend the arguments, which, if he follows through, would make him the first sitting president on record to do so.

The president previously said he wanted to attend the oral arguments when the Supreme Court was considering a challenge to his sweeping tariffs in November, but later backed down, writing, “I do not want to distract from the importance of this Decision.” In the lead-up to arguments, Mr. Trump has taken to social media to defend his plan and attacked the courts as “stupid.” In a post to Truth Social in late February, the president claimed the Supreme Court “will find a way to come to the wrong conclusion” in the case.

Shocked Trump reacts to Kristi Noem’s cross-dressing husband after Daily Mail blew lid on national security scandal

drag queen putting on a black dress

Donald Trump was stunned to learn that Kristi Noem’s husband is a secret cross-dresser who experts say could have compromised national security, the President revealed in an exclusive phone interview with the Daily Mail on Tuesday. The Daily Mail revealed that the ex-DHS Secretary’s husband Bryon Noem, 56, sent compromising pictures of himself wearing fake breasts in tight clothing to fetish porn models online.  A spokesperson for Noem, 54, claimed that the family was ‘blindsided’ by Bryon’s cross-dressing history – adding that his wife of 34 years is ‘devastated.’

The Daily Mail called Trump to field his reaction just weeks after he fired Kristi as the Secretary of Homeland Security following bipartisan backlash over the agency’s aggressive immigration enforcement tactics and scrutiny of a controversial $220 million advertising campaign that wasn’t approved by the President.  The President told the Daily Mail he was surprised to hear the Noem family did not deny the shocking report into Bryon’s lewd online behavior.  ‘They confirmed it? Wow, well, I feel badly for the family if that’s the case, that’s too bad,’ Trump said in a phone call. ‘I haven’t seen anything. I don’t know anything about it. That’s too bad, but I just know nothing about it,’ Trump added. Bryon sent his secret roster of online acquaintances at least $25,000 via Cash App and PayPal.

Johnson, who bills his show as the place for “cutting, behind-the-scenes insight into the global conflict for freedom”, wondered if Vance, who has been noticeably quiet about Donald Trump’s war in the Middle East that he is said to oppose, had yet looked at any of the files about unidentified flying objects – known these days as unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs) – which the president has promised to release. The paychecks appear to have relieved severe congestion at airport TSA checkpoints, which resulted in hours-long lines at several major air hubs over the past two weeks but brought Congress no closer to resolving the standoff over the the DHS’s budget. “Most TSA employees received a retroactive paycheck today that included at least two full paychecks,” said Lauren Bis, the acting assistant secretary of public affairs at the DHS. She noted the agency was “working aggressively” to send a third half-paycheck that employees are owed. Democrats decry ‘smear’ as Trump FBI pushes for release of Eric Swalwell file

detectives in tilt shift lens

The Trump administration has reportedly been pushing to release records from an FBI investigation related to Eric Swalwell and alleged links to a Chinese agent as the Democratic congressman makes gains in the California governor’s race. The Washington Post reported on Saturday, citing “three people familiar with the effort”, that the FBI director, Kash Patel, is pushing to release the files, even though there is no public evidence of wrongdoing on Swalwell’s part.

The records stem from a decade-old investigation into a suspected spy who had developed relationships with US politicians and assisted Swalwell with fundraising. An FBI official previously said Swalwell was cooperative with the investigation and was not suspected of wrongdoing. He cut off contact with the woman after speaking to the FBI. The profile of Swalwell, an outspoken critic of Donald Trump who served as a congressional manager during the president’s second impeachment trial, has risen as the contest for California governor takes shape. The field of candidates to replace Gavin Newsom is crowded, with at least eight Democrats, including Swalwell, and two Republicans.

Trump administration sues Minnesota for allowing trans athletes in girls’ sports

woman in blue and white basketball jersey holding brown basketball

The US Department of Justice sued Minnesota’s education department and the state’s school athletics body on Monday for allowing transgender athletes to compete in girls’ sports. In a lawsuit, the justice department claims that by making female student athletes compete against transgender girls, as well as share locker rooms and bathrooms with them, Minnesota is violating Title IX – the federal law that prohibits sex-based discrimination for any programs that receive federal funding. “Minnesota’s policies and practices create unfair competition, deny girls equal educational opportunities, and expose girls to a hostile educational environment with heightened risks of physical injury and psychological harm,” the justice department argues in the suit filed on Monday. Minnesota has fought against the Trump administration’s efforts to remove transgender athletes from girls’ sports.

Russian Oil Poised To Flood World Markets As Trump Admin Lifts Sanctions

silhouette of oil tanker at sunset on pacific ocean

The U.S. began Operation Epic Fury on Feb. 28, killing Iranian Supreme Leader Khamanei and striking key military locations in the Islamic Republic. Iran’s retaliatory strikes caused tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz to plummet, dramatically increasing prices and prompting the Trump administration to temporarily lift Russian oil sanctions. The U.S. Department of the Treasury gave a temporary 30-day waiver on Russian oil sanctions March 5 to allow for Indian refineries to purchase Russian crude oil already in transit on the sea. The U.S. Treasury announced on March 12 the temporary tariff suspension would apply to all countries until April 5.
