Abdul El-Sayed’s Father-in-Law, a Top Donor to an El-Sayed Super PAC, Is Among Top Leaders of Muslim Brotherhood Organization Linked to Terror Funding

Abdul El-Sayed’s father-in-law, a top donor to a super PAC supporting the left-wing Michigan Senate hopeful, is among the top leaders of an Islamic organization identified by the federal government as a public facing group for the Muslim Brotherhood, a Washington Free Beacon review found. As part of his role with the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), which the federal government linked to the financing of Hamas, Tayeb Jukaku contributes at least $5,000 to the organization annually. Jukaku has served on the 20-member founding committee of ISNA since at least 2007, according to the organization’s magazine, Islamic Horizons, and has been a member of the group for a “long time, cannot recall [when I joined],” according to Jukaku’s online bio.

Federal prosecutors identified the organization as an unindicted co-conspirator in the landmark 2007 terrorist financing case USA v. Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, which culminated in the conviction of the foundation’s founders for funneling $12 million to Hamas. They also identified the ISNA as one of eight entities “who are and/or were members of the US Muslim Brotherhood.” The Holy Land Foundation trial began in 2007 as Jukaku served on ISNA’s founding committee, and he and other committee members are required to contribute at least $5,000 annually to the organization in addition to “the ‘Founders Legacy Fund,'” according to the group. Lorenzo Vidino, the director of the Program on Extremism at George Washington University, said ISNA “was historically, no question, an organization created … by the Muslim Brotherhood and fellow travelers from the Indian subcontinent as basically the Islamist organization in America.”

He noted that Tayeb was involved with the group “when they were putting out some really nasty stuff.” “To be on the founding committee, this is the elders of the organization,” Vidino told the Free Beacon. Jukaku also served as president of the Council on American-Islamic Relations’s (CAIR) Michigan chapter from 2005 to 2010, according to the group’s IRS disclosures. CAIR was also named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial and included on a list of groups “who are and/or were members of the US Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestine Committee and/or its organizations,” a similar but separate distinction from the ISNA’s Muslim Brotherhood affiliation. Jukaku remains on CAIR Michigan’s board of directors. Vidino said it was “unsurprising” that Tayeb is also involved with CAIR. “This is kind of the pattern,” he told the Free Beacon. “To some degree, it’s a good old boys network. And so, if you’re on the board committee in ISNA, chances are you also belong to your local CAIR branch.

Chances are you sit on the board of another charity that is part of the network. That’s kind of how it works.” Federal prosecutors first charged the Holy Land Foundation, once the largest Muslim charity in the United States, with money laundering and providing material support to terrorist organizations in 2004. The government said the foundation was “created for the purpose of providing financial and material support” to Hamas and funneled more than $12 million to the terror group through affiliated committees and organizations. Both ISNA and CAIR were named as unindicted co-conspirators, and, though they challenged the label, a federal judge ruled in July 2009—as Jukaku served both on ISNA’s founding committee and as president of CAIR-Michigan—that the Department of Justice had provided “ample evidence” linking them to Hamas. The Holy Land Foundation raised money for Hamas, for example, using a joint bank account with the ISNA, which deposited checks into the account that were “often made payable to ‘the Palestinian Mujahadeen,’ the original name for the Hamas military wing,” according to the ruling.

The ruling also cited a 1991 memo from the Shura Council of the Muslim Brotherhood—an international Sunni Islamist group that has spawned numerous armed jihadist organizations, including Hamas—that described ISNA as a member group. The council stated in the memo that its work in the United States was “a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and sabotaging its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.” The trial did not push Jukaku to distance himself from ISNA or CAIR. In 2010, he was photographed alongside CAIR executive director Nihad Awad, who said he was “happy to see” Hamas “break the siege” on Oct. 7, 2023, at CAIR Michigan’s annual banquet. Jukaku is also a top donor to a super PAC supporting El-Sayed’s candidacy, the Fighting for Michigan PAC. He has given the PAC $200,000, nearly half of the $478,125.68 it has raised as of March 31. “It’s been obvious since the 1970s that the Muslim Students Associations and ISNA … have very strong ties to the extreme fringes of the Democratic Party,” said Andrew McCarthy, a former federal prosecutor who led the prosecution of the Blind Sheikh in the Southern District of New York. ISNA, founded in 1982, is an outgrowth of the Muslim Students Association, which has chapters on colleges and university campuses across the country.

As his father-in-law pours money into his broader campaign effort, El-Sayed is campaigning on pushing  “money out of politics,” a slogan featured on yard signs supporting his campaign. He has singled out spending from pro-Israel groups like the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), which he accused of working to “buy off government” to “make sure that our money is sent abroad to kill other people.” Simultaneously, the Fighting for Michigan PAC—armed with generous contributions from Jukaku—is spending big to help El-Sayed secure the Democratic nomination over his primary opponent, congresswoman Haley Stevens. So is the American Priorities PAC, a newly created anti-Israel group that aims to counter AIPAC spending and has vowed to “do whatever it takes” to help El-Sayed.

Abdul El-Sayed Wears Luxury Watches Worth Thousands While Campaigning Against the Wealthy

Gold Rolex wristwatch with Roman numerals on wooden desk next to notebook and pen

Left-wing Michigan Senate hopeful Abdul El-Sayed is running as a populist who rails against the wealthy. At the same time, he’s been photographed on the campaign trail wearing an array of luxury watches worth thousands of dollars, a Washington Free Beacon review found. El-Sayed has even bemoaned the “perverse psychological consequences” of Rolex advertisements along the Michigan freeway. “How many people who drive this road can actually afford one of those?” he asked in his 2020 book. As it turns out, El-Sayed, who described himself in an interview with LGBTDetroit in May as a “sucker for automatic watches” and “classic watches,” can afford some pricey wristwear. He even earned a shout-out from a watch podcast the same month for “rocking what looks like the Sinn U-1 SE,” a German diver’s watch that costs roughly $4,000.

“Badass stealthy pick, well done Doc!,” an Instagram post from the Lan Jam podcast declared. The podcast bills itself as “a friendly discussion between two blokes on watches, cars, aviation, movies, and everything in between.” The following month, in June, El-Sayed posted a video wearing what appears to be an Omega Seamaster DeVille, a vintage watch worth about $3,000. El-Sayed appeared to wear a pricier Omega—the Speedmaster Moon Phase Chronograph, worth roughly $10,000—in a June campaign video. And he donned a Mühle Glashütte S.A.R. Rescue-Timer, a German nautical watch worth nearly $2,000, while “getting ice cream in Grand Haven, MI.” He also sported a vintage 1950s Elgin “Doctors Watch” worth nearly $2,000. El-Sayed has billed himself as a crusader for the working-class against the wealthy and has suggested that he struggles to afford groceries and health care. “Why do we have a trillionaire when the rest of us can barely afford groceries or healthcare?” he wrote in an X post earlier this week. In March, he wrote: “How come we work a full time job and still can’t afford a home?

The answer: corporations can buy politicians.” He has also said he has maximalist political views but a minimalist style and has lacerated American “oligarchs,” saying, “We finally need to start taxing billionaire wealth.” El-Sayed participated in an Instagram video with a self-described “stylist for regular people,” Sophie Strauss, in which she attempted to dress him in a manner that matches his radical politics. When Strauss suggested he wear “something green since you support climate justice,” El-Sayed responded, “Of course, but this feels like money green, and I’m trying to get that out of politics.” In the video, El-Sayed is wearing a watch that resembles a Rolex Submariner, a luxury piece that costs roughly $15,000. Watchmakers like Tag Heuer and Tudor sell lookalikes that cost roughly $2,500 and $5,000, respectively. The Free Beacon could not identify the exact watch El-Sayed is wearing, and a campaign spokeswoman said El-Sayed does not own a Rolex—though the campaign confirmed that he owns several other pricey watches. “He regularly wears a SAR Rescue Timer on the campaign trail because he is trying to rescue our politics from corporate corruption,” said El Sayed spokeswoman Roxie Richner.

“Sometimes he wears a vintage doctor’s watch because he is a doctor,” Richner said, though El-Sayed has never practiced medicine. El-Sayed attended medical school at Columbia University but did not complete a residency. He has never been licensed to practice medicine, though he has referred to himself as a “physician” on the campaign trail. El-Sayed railed against luxury watches before running for Senate. In his 2020 autobiography Healing Politics: A Doctor’s Journey Into the Heart of Our Political Epidemic, he lamented the Rolex billboards that lined Michigan’s highways, saying the ads “have real power” because they serve as “a reminder to almost everyone on that highway that although they cannot afford one, someone driving on that same highway can.” “The cheapest of those watches sells for at least $3,000, even when they’re used,” he wrote. “How many people who drive this road can actually afford one of those?” “Consider the perverse psychological consequences of this signaling,” he continued. “This signaling exacerbates material insecurity. It renders poorer people in more unequal societies more likely to pursue luxury items that they are less able to afford.” El-Sayed’s “impressive” collection earned praise from Josh Rogin, a Washington, D.C., watch collector who runs the Instagram account @WatchTheRamen.

He singled out El-Sayed’s Sinn U-1, calling it an “if you know, you know” piece for those who “still want to wear a $5k watch (and not get mugged).” “He clearly spent years curating it and went way out of his way to collect the pieces he really likes and cares about,” Rogin told the Free Beacon. “Most of them cannot be bought in a retail store.” El-Sayed’s net worth appears to have risen substantially since he ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2018. During that campaign, he released tax returns that showed he and his wife, psychiatrist Sarah Jukaku, earned around $237,000 in 2016. Jukaku has since launched a private practice, Mind Work Psychiatry, that does not accept Medicare or any other insurance and requires patients to pay out-of-pocket, the Free Beacon reported. El-Sayed has called for universal health care through a single-payer “Medicare for All” system that would cover every American “from cradle to grave.” El-Sayed also earned nearly $50,000 from paid speeches between January 2024 and April 2025, according to his 2025 financial disclosure, which also lists him as the owner of an “audio and video media” company, Incision Media LLC, worth between $100,000 and $250,000.

In 2024 and 2025, El-Sayed earned $278,939 working as health director for Wayne County. He and Jukaku own at least two rental properties, one in Michigan and one in India, worth up to $500,000 and $250,000, respectively, according to the disclosure. El-Sayed’s in-laws are also well-off. His father-in-law is a kidney doctor who has donated at least $200,000 to a super PAC supporting El-Sayed’s candidacy. Jukaku also serves on the founders’ committee for the Islamic Society of North America and is a former president of the Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. Federal prosecutors named both groups as unindicted co-conspirators in the landmark terrorist financing case USA v. Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, the Free Beacon reported.

Lindsey Graham dies suddenly at 71, remembered as champion for life, an advocate for the persecuted

Man in suit and tie speaking at a Senate podium with American flag in background

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., died unexpectedly on Saturday at age 71 from a “sudden illness” after emergency personnel responded to a call at his Washington home. He is being remembered as a champion for the pro-life cause and an ally to persecuted Christians worldwide. Around 8:30 p.m., emergency services took a call about chest pains at a Capitol Hill residence. About 25 minutes later, personnel said CPR had begun and that a man at the address was in cardiac arrest, The Washington Post reports, citing an emergency responder scanner. In a statement, Graham’s office said he died after a “brief and sudden illness.” Graham ran for president during the 2016 election cycle. He served in the U.S. Senate for over two decades, was an ally of President Donald Trump and often introduced legislation to institute nationwide restrictions on abortion.

An official cause of death has not yet been determined. On Sunday, Trump told NBC News’ “Meet the Press” that Graham was “like a member of the family.” The president praised Graham’s ability to work across the political aisle. “He was such an advocate. If he wanted to get something, he had a unique ability to deal with Democrats and Republicans,” Trump said. “If [I] had a problem – a real problem – I wouldn’t often ask. But if I had a problem with a Democrat, he could work it out. He was a great politician, actually.” On his Truth Social page, Trump called Graham “one of the greatest people and Senators I have ever known.” Pro-life and Christian conservative advocacy organizations are mourning Graham’s death. “Lindsey Graham was an unwavering pro-life champion and a friend,” said SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser, who added, “There will be no replacements for Lindsey Graham.” “A man of vision and tenacity, he gave wise counsel and advocacy in countless difficult moments fighting for the rights of the unborn child. He expended himself to the work he was called to do, stepping up when no one else would.

On the fundamental value of the not-yet-born child to live, he said to all who would listen: ‘It’s not about geography!’ Indeed, his ability to persuade transcended geographic and political boundaries.” Tony Perkins, president of the Washington-based Family Research Council, called Graham a “true leader” and a “voice for the defenseless.” “He used his influence to advance the cause of life. When others grew quiet, Lindsey stepped forward and gave his colleagues a way to speak — clearly, courageously, and compassionately — about the dignity of every human life. He was also a consistent advocate for persecuted Christians around the world, those who suffer simply because they refuse to deny their faith.” Graham had been in good enough health days earlier to travel abroad, and a top staffer said there had been no sign he was feeling unwell before he died, according to NBC News. He had been scheduled to appear on Sunday on “Meet the Press,” the network’s flagship Sunday political program. Graham recently returned from Kyiv, where he met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday, CNN notes. Tributes also came from abroad. Ruslan Stefanchuk, the speaker of Ukraine’s parliament, called Graham a steadfast friend who understood that his country’s struggle was a fight for freedom and democracy.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel said the senator had grasped that his country’s safety and America’s could not be separated, and that Israel had lost one of its closest friends. Graham was raised in Central, South Carolina, where the family ran a restaurant and pool hall, and he became the first of his family to attend college before earning a law degree from the University of South Carolina. He served 33 years in the Air Force, the Air Force Reserve and the South Carolina Air National Guard, retiring in 2015 as a colonel. He served in the House from 1995 before winning the Senate seat in 2002 that the retiring Strom Thurmond had held. Graham’s death narrows the Republican majority in the Senate, where the party had held a 53-47 edge and was already braced for the absence of one member, Sen. Mitch McConnell, 84, who has been in the hospital since last month. A spokesperson has said the former GOP leader is continuing to recover without giving further details. Under South Carolina law, Gov. Henry McMaster, a Republican, can appoint a successor immediately to serve until Jan. 3 of next year, when the term ends.

State Republicans must now choose a new nominee, and a special primary is expected by Aug. 11.

Fetterman and McCormick form bipartisan joint fundraising committee

Two men shaking hands silhouetted against the US Capitol dome and sunset with Washington Monument in background

Pennsylvania’s two U.S. senators have teamed up to form a joint fundraising committee to raise money for their campaigns in an unusual display of bipartisanship — and one that may not actually be meant to generate funds. Common Ground PA filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission on Monday. The joint fundraising committee lists both Fetterman and McCormick’s leadership PACs as well as their principal campaign committees as the participants. “The joint fundraising committee is specifically just for raising money,” said Brendan Glavin, the director of insights for non-partisan political transparency organization OpenSecrets. In a joint fundraising committee, only the participants are allowed to receive money donated to the committee.

“They can’t make contributions to other candidates or other PACs.”  Fetterman is up for reelection in the 2028 cycle, while McCormick is not up for reelection until 2030. The most recent FEC filings show Fetterman for PA has about $1.99 million in cash on hand, while McCormick has about $954,000.  Politico was the first to note the joint fundraising committee’s formation earlier this week. When KDKA-TV asked if he’d ever seen campaigns from opposite sides of the aisle form a joint fundraising committee, Glavin said, “I’m not gonna say it’s never happened, but certainly, I was definitely very surprised to see that.”  Glavin said the campaigns may be trying to appeal to a certain kind of donor, and the committee may be more about messaging than money. “The goal may be more to present both of them as being people who are willing to work with the other side. That is something that is attractive to voters, to say ‘I’m not part of this hyper-partisan problem that we have in our country.'”  But Glavin also said the message may have niche appeal. “Certainly most of your donors are not gonna be keen on the idea of giving their money to basically the opposite side of where they stand.”  Neither Fetterman nor McCormick has positive approval with Pennsylvania voters. A Quinnipiac poll in February 2026 found 46% approve of Fetterman’s job performance overall, while 37% approve of McCormick’s handling of his job. Fetterman has also come under fire from within his own party.

Trump Says China Is Trying To Take Over Panama Canal, Slams ‘Stupid’ US Decision

Cargo container ships passing through the Panama Canal surrounded by dense forest at sunrise

For Donald Trump, the Panama Canal remains unfinished business. Speaking at the opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora, North Dakota, on Wednesday, the US President returned to one of the foreign policy themes that has featured repeatedly during his presidency: the argument that Washington should never have surrendered control of the Panama Canal. This time, he coupled that criticism with a fresh allegation that China is seeking greater influence over the strategic waterway, insisting the United States would not allow such an outcome. Trump’s remarks came during an event celebrating Theodore Roosevelt, the US president whose administration oversaw construction of the canal in the early twentieth century.

Drawing on that historical backdrop, Trump criticised the decision to transfer control of the canal under the 1977 Torrijos-Carter Treaties, arguing that successive toll increases had benefited Panama while weakening American strategic interests. Created with AI. Although he did not present evidence for his claims regarding Beijing’s role, the comments reflected his administration’s broader emphasis on countering Chinese influence in critical global infrastructure. “The Panama Canal, so we gave it away,” Trump told the audience. “The first thing they did, you know what they did? They raised the prices for the ships by four times… How stupid was that?” Trump Revives Debate Over Strategic Waterway Trump went on to argue that Panama had repeatedly increased transit charges without affecting shipping volumes, portraying the transfer of the canal as a costly strategic error for the United States.

“And now China’s trying to take over the Panama Canal, and we’re not going to let that happen,” he said, before joking that the remarks had not been part of his prepared speech because, in his words, he did not rely on a script. The Panama Canal is among the world’s most significant maritime chokepoints, connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and handling a substantial share of global commercial shipping. While the United States built and operated the canal for decades, the Torrijos-Carter Treaties, signed in 1977 by President Jimmy Carter and Panamanian leader Omar Torrijos, established a phased transfer of authority.

Panama assumed full operational control of the canal on 31 December 1999 through the autonomous Panama Canal Authority. Trump has repeatedly criticised that agreement, arguing that it weakened US strategic leverage. Panamanian leaders, meanwhile, have consistently maintained that the canal remains under the country’s sovereign administration and is operated in accordance with international neutrality obligations. Supreme Court And Birthright Citizenship Also Feature Foreign policy was not the only issue Trump addressed during the ceremony.

He also turned to recent Supreme Court decisions, praising rulings that he said restored executive authority while expressing disagreement with the court’s approach to birthright citizenship. “We’ll take care of the birthright citizenship,” Trump said, arguing that the constitutional provision had been intended to protect the children of formerly enslaved people rather than wealthy foreign nationals. “I believe, no, I know they got it wrong, but that’s okay.” The President also welcomed a recent Supreme Court decision expanding presidential authority over executive branch appointments, describing it as one of the most consequential constitutional rulings in decades.

“You know, a little while ago… we had something that gives back tremendous power to the President of the United States,” Trump said. “It gives power back to the president at a time when the president really needs power.” Even so, it was his remarks on the Panama Canal that stood out. By returning to the issue during an event honouring Theodore Roosevelt, Trump linked a century-old infrastructure project to present-day geopolitical competition, underscoring how the canal continues to feature prominently in his administration’s narrative on American strategic interests and China’s expanding global footprint.

Sen. Rick Scott Rallies Senate Republicans to Advance Trump’s Priorities

Man in suit speaking at Senate podium in legislative chamber

Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) called on Senate Republicans to work with President Donald Trump and advance the SAVE America Act, urging lawmakers in a Monday social media post to “hit the ground running” as Congress returns to Washington. “Let’s hit the ground running this week,” Scott wrote in a message posted on social media. “The Senate needs to come together, have conversations, work with President Trump, and get the SAVE America Act done.” According to Scott’s proposal, Republicans should focus on preventing another government shutdown and passing the SAVE America Act, legislation that would require proof of citizenship when registering to vote.

“I hope we can continue to have robust conversations as a conference this week as to how we should spend our time between now and the November elections. President Trump is scheduled to be at our Wednesday lunch. I hope everyone will be vocal as to what they think is the best path forward, but here is mine,” Scott wrote in his letter obtained by the Hill. Scott said Republicans should make clear distinctions between the two parties on government funding and election security as lawmakers prepare for upcoming spending battles and the midterm elections. Scott said he does not expect Democrats to support passage of all 12 annual appropriations bills before the Sept. 30 funding deadline, saying that Republicans should instead pursue a continuing resolution to avert a shutdown. “We need to make it clear to all Americans that Democrats want to shut down government and don’t care how it impacts federal workers or the economy and Republicans want to fund the government,” he wrote.

“We need to make it clear Republicans want election security and Democrats want fraud.” President Donald Trump is expected to meet with Senate Republicans on Wednesday as lawmakers continue discussions on spending, government funding, and election-related legislation.

House passes pro-union bill after 20 Republicans defy party, in latest move to bypass GOP leadership

Washington — House Democrats, with the help of several Republicans, bypassed GOP leadership on Tuesday to force a successful vote on legislation that would accelerate negotiations on newly-formed unions’ first collective bargaining agreements.  The legislation, titled the Faster Labor Contracts Act, was introduced in September by Democratic Rep. Donald Norcross of New Jersey. It passed in a 230 to 193 vote, with 20 Republicans voting in favor.  In late April, Norcross launched a discharge petition, seeking to bring the bill to the floor.

The procedural maneuver allows members to circumvent leadership and force a floor vote on legislation if they secure a majority support — 218 signatures. The petition hit the threshold within a month, with seven Republicans signing on.  Norcross’ discharge petition is the seventh this session to hit the threshold, a sign of discontent with GOP leadership.  The measure would amend the National Labor Relations Act and require employers to begin contract negotiations with newly-certified unions within 10 days of receiving a written request. It also sets a timeline for mediation and lays out next steps if no agreement is reached after 90 days.

“Right now, employers can delay negotiations on first contracts for years,” Norcross said in a statement in April, adding that his bill “will force employers to act in good faith and come to the negotiating table quickly.”  During debate on the bill, GOP Rep. Tim Walberg of Michigan argued the measure would fast-track “government intrusion into private workplaces” and erode “workers’ rights faster than we have ever seen before.”  “It is the latest attempt to put workers under the thumb of the federal bureaucrats,” Walberg said, referring to the arbitration process laid out in the bill.

Dems cut ties with scandal-plagued Graham Platner, warn of ‘civil war’ in party

donkeys on green grass field

Top Democratic officials and lawmakers are breaking with Democratic Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner as his past blunders and online history stack up.  Platner’s ascendency to the top of the ticket in Vacationland broke with the Democratic establishment in Washington, D.C., and since Maine Gov. Janet Mills exited from the race, questions about whether he is the right choice to take on Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, have exploded.  Much of that is fueled by scandals that have cropped up seemingly week after week, be it a tattoo on his chest of a Nazi symbol or inflammatory posts online. Some in the Democratic Party warn that it’s spurring a “civil war” between the moderate and left wings of the party.

Melissa DeRosa, former New York Mayor Andrew Cuomo’s chief of staff, told Fox News’ Bret Baier that Platner’s rise and ensuing questions of his fitness as a candidate are demonstrative of the bubbling conflict within the Democratic Party.  “The main race really demonstrates the civil war that’s happening within the Democratic Party, and there are a lot of Democrats, moderate Democrats like myself, who will not cry tears should we lose Maine,” DeRosa said. “I mean, that would be a pickup to begin with.”  Senate Democrats view Maine as one of the most viable pickup opportunities in the 2026 midterm cycle in their quest to regain control of the upper chamber. Platner is not the candidate that party bosses wanted, but since jumping into the race last year, he has built a growing national profile that reached new heights earlier this month when he landed on the cover of Time magazine. Still, his unearthed Reddit posts — ranging from bashing a soldier shot by the Taliban to masturbating in portable toilets — have unleashed fresh scrutiny from both the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) and Democrats alike.

Rep. Thomas Massie becomes latest GOP incumbent to fall in primary after Trump backs challenger

person putting white paper on ballot box

Trump-backed Ed Gallrein defeated Rep. Thomas Massie in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District Republican primary on Tuesday, CBS News has projected.  Massie is the latest incumbent Republican to fall in a primary to a challenger endorsed by President Trump, who has successfully targeted a number of Republicans he has deemed his adversaries in recent primaries.  Last week, Massie referred to himself as the “main event” on Mr. Trump’s revenge tour.  Massie conceded to Gallrein in a speech Tuesday, closing out a primary race that he quipped “went on longer than Vietnam.” Trump allies celebrated Gallrein’s victory. Former Trump 2024 co-campaign manager Chris LaCivita wrote on X that GOP voters “want to know that someone represents their views,” and Massie “failed Republicans on all counts.”

Earlier, LaCivita posted a photo of Mr. Trump showing his middle finger. “Do not ever doubt President Trump and his political power,” White House Communications Director Steven Cheung wrote on social media, likely responding to Massie’s loss. “F*** around, find out.” The race in northern Kentucky was the most expensive House primary in history, with pro-Israel interest groups pumping millions in the contest in a bid to unseat Massie, who has been a thorn in Mr. Trump’s side. In an interview with CBS News on Monday, Massie said spending by pro-Israel interest groups caused more disruption in the race than the president. In a typical year, Massie said he would have won the primary with 80% of the vote. He estimated Mr. Trump’s endorsement of Gallrein lowered his support to 60%, and spending from the pro-Israel lobby further eroded it.

Republican South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace named several lawmakers Monday who she claims used a congressional “slush fund” to cover up alleged sex scandals. Mace said she uncovered 1,000 pages of documents detailing how certain lawmakers allegedly evaded consequences for sexual scandals, according to a Monday post on X. Mace originally subpoenaed the House Oversight Committee in March in light of a string of sexual scandals that resulted in two resignations from Congress. Notably, Mace said that these documents are only from the last 22 years, claiming that all reports prior to 2004 were “destroyed.” Mace later named six lawmakers she alleges covered up their sex scandals with the “slush fund.”

“Accountability is not a threat,” Mace said. “It is a promise.”

Mace followed up her original tweet with one listing the alleged cases and their settlements. Mace’s post names six lawmakers including former Republican Louisiana Rep. Rodney Alexander, former Republican Texas Rep. Blake Farenthold, former Republican Pennsylvania Rep. Patrick Meehan, former Democratic New York Rep. Eric Massa, former Democratic Michigan Rep. John Conyers, and the office of former Democratic New York Rep. Carolyn McCarthy.

Notably, Farenthold, Conyers and McCarthy have passed away in recent years.

2007: Rodney Alexander ($15,000)
2009: Office of Carolyn McCarthy (2 cases resulting in 1 settlement) ($8,000)
2010: Eric Massa I ($85,000)
2010: Eric Massa II ($20,000)
2010: Eric Massa III ($10,000)

Michigan Dem Senate candidate Mallory McMorrow purges X account following The Post’s report on her social media history

Michigan Democrat Mallory McMorrow, a candidate for US Senate, deleted thousands of tweets, some of which defended “coastal elites” and were critical of “Middle America,” after The Post first reported on them last year.  Morrow, 39, purged her X account of roughly 6,000 posts, including all her tweets posted prior to 2020, CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski reported Wednesday.  The journalist noted the social media cleanse came after The Post’s April 2025 scoop on McMorrow’s tweet history.

Judge blocks Virginia from using new congressional maps, 1 day after redistricting vote passes

road signage near the flooded road

A state court judge on Wednesday blocked Virginia from moving forward with a redistricting effort that passed in a referendum a day earlier, a roadblock in Democrats’ efforts to redraw the state’s congressional maps and tilt as many as four House districts away from the GOP.   The order from Judge Jack Hurley of Tazewell County Circuit Court declares all votes for and against Tuesday’s referendum “ineffective,” and bars state officials from certifying the results or taking any actions to put the new maps passed by state lawmakers into effect.   In a brief order, Hurley found that the referendum violated several clauses of the state constitution, arguing it skirted a 90-day public notice requirement and calling the question that was presented to voters “flagrantly misleading.”

Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones, a Democrat, said he will immediately appeal the ruling. “Virginia voters have spoken, and an activist judge should not have veto power over the People’s vote,” Jones wrote in a statement on X. “We look forward to defending the outcome of last night’s election in court.” The Republican National Committee, one of several GOP groups that sued over the referendum, called the ruling “a major victory for Virginians.”  “Democrats attempted to force an unconstitutional scheme to tilt congressional maps in their favor, but the court recognized it for what it is — a blatant power grab,” RNC Chair Joe Gruters said in a statement. The ballot measure, which voters approved by a 3-point margin on Tuesday, sought to amend Virginia’s constitution so that lawmakers could redraw the state’s House map, overriding a 2020 amendment that created a bipartisan commission to handle redistricting.

The state’s Democratic-controlled General Assembly passed a new map earlier this year. Virginia will return to its old redistricting system after the 2030 election.

Rep. Luna said it is time to “take out the trash” as congressmen resign due to accusations

bags stacked under building

Declaring its time “to take out the trash,” Republican Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna said there needs to be a continued reckoning through the halls of Congress, past the resignations of Democratic Congressman Eric Swalwell and Republican Congressman Tony Gonzales. “Look, I think that a lot of these members were by their own admission, guilty of breaking house ethics and our rules we conduct ourselves by,” Luna told CBS Miami’s Jim DeFede. “I know that there are a lot of accusations, obviously very horrifying accusations. And I think a criminal probe regarding Representative Swalwell, which I will continue to send any information I get to the authorities. But this type of behavior can’t be tolerated. I don’t think that they’re the only ones. As you know, there’s an $18 million Congressional slush fund that’s been paid out since the 90s. So obviously, there’s a huge issue with that here on Capitol Hill. The more we find out about it, the more we’re just going to say it’s time to take out the trash.”

“I think that basic human dignity and upholding the law is pretty much a no-brainer,” she continued. “I think we have to have a zero tolerance when we find out about it, if there’s evidence, we have to expel.” Luna said she expects Florida Democrat Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick to be the next member who either resigns or gets expelled. “Look, if there’s evidence for wrongdoing, breaking the law, breaking house conduct, or engaging in illegal activity, then that person needs to go,” she said. “I frankly don’t care about the party affiliation. These are all adults here. They make their decisions, and I’m not going to be expected to vote to cover for them. I don’t work for these people’s offices. So, for me, I frankly don’t like being associated with people, for example, like in Sheila’s case, that’s steal $5 million in FEMA funds. We are not the same. And so for them to come up here and to have all of this mess happening, it just simply is a distraction from the work that we’re all here to do. And I frankly am ready to get back to the work of the American people and so the sooner that we can get that type of behavior gone the better.”

Wyoming Republican introduces legislation to protect American energy from left-wing litigation

ravenswood generating station

Wyoming GOP Rep. Harriet Hageman introduced legislation Friday to protect American energy producers from being targeted by retroactive left-wing lawsuits.

The legislation bans climate liability lawsuits from being filed retroactively, dismisses pending lawsuits on the date of the bill’s enactment, voids state energy penalty laws and affirms the federal government has sole authority to regulate greenhouse gas emissions and interstate environmental standards.

Hageman claimed state legislatures are attempting to retroactively punish American energy producers over standards that were legal in the past through climate liability lawsuits and Superfund laws.

“Energy security is national security, and we will not self-sabotage our critical industries with a cascade of costly lawsuits and extreme penalties that jeopardize American drilling,” Hageman said. “America’s energy producers should be protected from the dangerous legal precedent that would be set by the retroactive punishment of lawful activity.”

Hageman’s office said Vermont and New York have both passed “climate Superfund” laws and state legislatures in nine other states are considering similar proposals, including California, Hawaii, New Jersey and Virginia.

Former Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax kills wife, fatally shoots self, police say

News anchors reporting on sexual assault allegations against former Virginia Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax

Former Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax shot and killed his wife and then turned the gun on himself in a murder-suicide in their home in Annandale, Virginia, police said Thursday. Fairfax County police said that just after midnight, Fairfax shot his wife several times in the basement of their home and then went upstairs to the primary bedroom and shot and killed himself. Both their teenage children were home when the incident occurred. According to two sources with knowledge of the investigation, Fairfax’s son called 911 just after midnight from the home. The caller said he thought his mother, Cerina Fairfax, had been stabbed.

When police arrived at the home, they found bullet casings near her body. Later, they found Justin Fairfax upstairs with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police said there was no prolonged confrontation before the shooting. “I think it all kind of happened at once,” Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis said. “There wasn’t a pause … it all happened pretty spontaneously.” Police said that Fairfax and his wife were in the early stages of divorce proceedings, and Fairfax had recently been served paperwork related to that divorce. “This has been an ongoing domestic dispute surrounding what seems to be a complicated or messy divorce,” Davis said during a briefing Thursday morning. The couple had been living together but were separated, residing in separate bedrooms. Cerina Fairfax filed for divorce last July.

Justice Sotomayor apologizes to Justice Kavanaugh for public criticism of immigration opinion

The U.S. Supreme Court building and American flag under a dramatic sunset sky.

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor issued a rare public apology Wednesday over what she called “inappropriate” remarks aimed at Justice Brett Kavanaugh for his vote last year to allow aggressive Trump administration immigration enforcement tactics, which critics had called racial profiling. “I had a colleague in that case who wrote, you know, these are only ‘temporary stops,’” Sotomayor said at the University of Kansas School of Law last week, referring to Kavanaugh’s concurring opinion in the case.

“This is from a man whose parents were professionals. And probably doesn’t really know any person who works by the hour.” While the Court’s majority did not formally explain its decision to lift a restraining order against the ICE strategy for targeting suspected unauthorized immigrants in California, Kavanaugh wrote separately to explain his view that “apparent ethnicity” could be a “relevant factor” in determining probable cause to detain a person.

Republican Tyler Kistner drops out of 2nd Congressional District race in Minnesota, to serve in other areas

soldier doing camouflage on face

Republican Tyler Kistner has announced he is dropping out of the 2026 race for Minnesota’s 2nd Congressional District seat. Explaining the move in a written statement on Wednesday, the veteran said that he is being activated from the Marine Reserves to deploy to the Middle East.  “Recently, it’s become clear that my service to this great country is needed more in other areas,” Kistner said. “My work at the Pentagon has demanded more of my time over the last six months than I initially anticipated.”

Kistner ran for the seat in 2022 and 2024, losing both times to incumbent Democrat Angie Craig, who is making a run for U.S. Senate in the November midterm elections. Democrats vying for the seat include state Rep. Kaela Berg, former state Sen. Matt Little and current state Sen. Matt Klein. On the Republican side, state Sen. Eric Pratt is running. The 2nd Congressional District includes the major south metro suburbs of Lakeville, Eagan and Burnsville, as well as farmland. Craig has represented the district for the past six years. Before her, Republicans held the district for 19 years. And before that, Democrats had it for eight years.

DOJ moves to dismiss J6 seditious conspiracy convictions of Oath Keepers and Proud Boys leaders

silhouette man embracing sunset in kangan

The Justice Department filed paperwork Tuesday to dismiss seditious conspiracy convictions of Proud Boys and Oath Keeper leaders related to the January 6 riot in 2021.  The department asked the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit to vacate the convictions, including of Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes, according to the Associated Press.  President Donald Trump has already commuted the sentences of over 1,500 Proud Boys and Oath Keeper members, including some of its leaders, but the motion goes further to erase the convictions.

“The government’s motion to vacate in this case is consistent with its practice of moving the Supreme Court to vacate convictions in cases where the government has decided in its prosecutorial discretion that dismissal of a criminal case is in the interests of justice — motions that the Supreme Court routinely grants,” prosecutors wrote in a court filing. The dismissal requests include convictions of Proud Boys members Ethan Nordean, Joseph Biggs, Zachary Rehl and Dominic Pezzola and Oath Keepers Kelly Meggs, Kenneth Harrelson and Jessica Watkins. New York Nuns Face Jail Over Free Cancer Hospice After Transgender Mandate Sparks Lawsuit

a nun using a rosary while praying

For over a century, the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne have operated a free cancer hospice in New York, caring for the terminally ill without government funding or insurance. But a new state law requiring long-term care facilities to comply with transgender ideology has put the sisters’ religious mission at risk, forcing them to sue the state to protect their right to operate according to Catholic teachings.

WHY IT MATTERS

This case highlights the growing tension between expanding LGBTQ rights and the ability of religious organizations to uphold their beliefs, especially when providing essential charitable services. It raises questions about the limits of state power to enforce ideological conformity, even on institutions that serve the most vulnerable populations at no cost to taxpayers.

THE DETAILS

New York’s 2024 LGBTQ Long-Term Care Facility Residents’ Bill of Rights mandates that all nursing homes and long-term care facilities in the state treat residents according to self-declared gender identity, use preferred pronouns, and structure operations around transgender ideology – regardless of the religious convictions of the providers. Facilities that refuse face escalating fines, license revocation, court orders, and even jail time for ‘willful’ noncompliance. In March 2024, the New York Department of Health sent the Dominican Sisters a ‘Dear Administrator’ letter outlining the state’s demands. On April 6, 2026, the Dominican Sisters filed a federal lawsuit seeking protection for their religious freedom and ability to continue their charitable hospice ministry.

Democrats Turn to Unconstitutional Exit Taxes After Their Policies Drove the Wealthy Out of Blue States

Smiling baby donkey cartoon with big eyes and fluffy tail sitting

Democrats believe all our money belongs to them. They believe they have the moral and legal authority to take the money we earn and redistribute it to their preferred constituencies, while ignoring (or even facilitating) massive fraud and enriching themselves in the process.  Advertisement With the news of massive fraud scandals in Minnesota and California, it’s clear we don’t have a revenue problem; we have a fraud problem, and we’d bet the majority of our deficit could be erased if we eliminated fraud.

But Democrats don’t have any interest in doing that. They just keep taxing people more and more to make up for their fiscal mismanagement.  And when they raise taxes, the people who can afford to move from those blue states to tax-friendlier red states. That leaves the blue states with even more self-inflicted budget woes. Rather than roll back wealth taxes, Democrats have decided to tax the people even more in the form of an exit tax, and that concept is gaining traction in blue states.

House Democrats call on Eric Swalwell to drop out of California governor race amid sexual assault allegations

A woman yelling and pointing her finger at a man during an argument

House Democratic leadership on Friday called on Rep. Eric Swalwell to drop out of the race for California governor in the wake of allegations that he sexually assaulted a former staffer. Swalwell denied the allegations and called them “false.”

In a statement Friday night, House Democratic leaders called for a “swift investigation” into the allegations and for Swalwell to immediately end his campaign. They called for accountability, but stopped short of urging him to resign from Congress.

“This is unacceptable of anyone — certainly not an elected official — and must be taken seriously,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York, Whip Katherine Clark of Massachusetts and Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar of California said. “All perpetrators of sexual assault and harassment must be held accountable.”

Swalwell threatened to take legal action against the woman, who detailed the alleged encounters to the San Francisco Chronicle, which published a story Friday.

The woman, who was not named, said Swalwell started pursuing her shortly after she was hired to work in his district office in Castro Valley in 2019. She alleged he sent her inappropriate photos of himself via Snapchat, requested nude photos of her and asked her to perform oral sex on him in a parking lot. She also alleged that after going out for drinks with Swalwell in September 2019, she woke up naked in his hotel bed with little recollection of the night.

Trump removes US Attorney General Pam Bondi

Newsroom with staff discussing a breaking news headline stating 'Pam Bondi Fired' on screens.

US President Donald Trump has removed Attorney General Pam Bondi – a longtime ally and fierce defender of his administration – from her post as America’s top law enforcement officer. Trump praised her in a post on Truth Social and said she would be “transitioning” to a role in the private sector. Bondi’s time leading the justice department was often overshadowed by its handling of the release of files relating to Jeffrey Epstein and its investigation into the convicted sex offender. She is the second Trump administration official in recent weeks to be cut from her post, after Kristi Noem was ousted as homeland security chief in March.

Bondi will be replaced by her former deputy, Todd Blanche. Bondi said she would be “working tirelessly” to transfer her work to Blanche, adding that the job had “been the honour” of a lifetime. She added that in her new private sector position – which she did not identify – she would “continue fighting for President Trump and this administration”. The announcement comes less than two months after a combative congressional hearing in which Bondi was peppered with questions from lawmakers – at times descending into shouting matches in which she called one Democrat a “washed-up loser”. As recently as Thursday morning, Trump was defending Bondi, saying: “She is a wonderful person and she is doing a good job.” But hours later, Trump confirmed her departure on Truth Social, saying that her new private sector role would be “announced at a date in the near future”.

Supreme Court to hear arguments over Trump’s birthright citizenship order today

The U.S. Supreme Court building and American flag under a dramatic sunset sky.

Washington — The Supreme Court will convene for arguments Wednesday to consider the legality of President Trump’s executive order that seeks to end birthright citizenship. The question in the case, known as Trump v. Barbara, is whether the president’s directive complies with the 14th Amendment’s Citizenship Clause and federal immigration law enacted in 1952. Mr. Trump issued the executive order on the first day of his second term as part of his plans for a sweeping immigration crackdown, but it has not taken effect because of decisions from lower courts finding it is likely unlawful. The White House’s official schedule for Wednesday says Mr. Trump will personally attend the arguments, which, if he follows through, would make him the first sitting president on record to do so.

The president previously said he wanted to attend the oral arguments when the Supreme Court was considering a challenge to his sweeping tariffs in November, but later backed down, writing, “I do not want to distract from the importance of this Decision.” In the lead-up to arguments, Mr. Trump has taken to social media to defend his plan and attacked the courts as “stupid.” In a post to Truth Social in late February, the president claimed the Supreme Court “will find a way to come to the wrong conclusion” in the case.

This is because in her eyes, children are for the elites, such as herself, while you should not be afforded such a blessing. Isabel Brown delivered a message at CPAC to the younger generation: Get married and have kids. As far as life goals go, this should be one of the most noncontroversial messages in the history of messages. However, this was a problem for the ladies on “The View,” as they mocked those who desire such a lifestyle.

Shocked Trump reacts to Kristi Noem’s cross-dressing husband after Daily Mail blew lid on national security scandal

drag queen putting on a black dress

Donald Trump was stunned to learn that Kristi Noem’s husband is a secret cross-dresser who experts say could have compromised national security, the President revealed in an exclusive phone interview with the Daily Mail on Tuesday. The Daily Mail revealed that the ex-DHS Secretary’s husband Bryon Noem, 56, sent compromising pictures of himself wearing fake breasts in tight clothing to fetish porn models online.  A spokesperson for Noem, 54, claimed that the family was ‘blindsided’ by Bryon’s cross-dressing history – adding that his wife of 34 years is ‘devastated.’

The Daily Mail called Trump to field his reaction just weeks after he fired Kristi as the Secretary of Homeland Security following bipartisan backlash over the agency’s aggressive immigration enforcement tactics and scrutiny of a controversial $220 million advertising campaign that wasn’t approved by the President.  The President told the Daily Mail he was surprised to hear the Noem family did not deny the shocking report into Bryon’s lewd online behavior.  ‘They confirmed it? Wow, well, I feel badly for the family if that’s the case, that’s too bad,’ Trump said in a phone call. ‘I haven’t seen anything. I don’t know anything about it. That’s too bad, but I just know nothing about it,’ Trump added. Bryon sent his secret roster of online acquaintances at least $25,000 via Cash App and PayPal.

The Trump administration has reportedly been pushing to release records from an FBI investigation related to Eric Swalwell and alleged links to a Chinese agent as the Democratic congressman makes gains in the California governor’s race. The Washington Post reported on Saturday, citing “three people familiar with the effort”, that the FBI director, Kash Patel, is pushing to release the files, even though there is no public evidence of wrongdoing on Swalwell’s part.

The records stem from a decade-old investigation into a suspected spy who had developed relationships with US politicians and assisted Swalwell with fundraising. An FBI official previously said Swalwell was cooperative with the investigation and was not suspected of wrongdoing. He cut off contact with the woman after speaking to the FBI. The profile of Swalwell, an outspoken critic of Donald Trump who served as a congressional manager during the president’s second impeachment trial, has risen as the contest for California governor takes shape. The field of candidates to replace Gavin Newsom is crowded, with at least eight Democrats, including Swalwell, and two Republicans.
