What the Fire Burns Away

blacksmith working at forge in workshop

The fire you’re walking through isn’t here to destroy you, it’s here to refine you. What feels like pressure is often God producing power you didn’t know you carried. Sometimes God doesn’t remove the fire because it’s the only thing strong enough to break what’s been holding you back. What feels like loss may actually be your freedom beginning.

 Bible Verse:
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you. Isaiah 43:2

The fire didn’t destroy them, it freed them. When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out of the furnace, the only thing gone was what had bound them. Sometimes God allows the fire not to harm you, but to break chains in your life. Fear, pride, doubt, these things cannot survive when your faith is refined. What feels like destruction may actually be deliverance. God knows what needs to be removed so that you can walk in freedom. When God says the fire will not burn you, He’s not promising you’ll avoid it, He’s promising you won’t be consumed by it. Every trial carries purpose. The heat reveals what’s real, burns away what doesn’t belong, and strengthens what remains. Don’t run from the fire or resent it, grow through it. God is with you in it, shaping endurance, faith, and character. The fire is temporary, but what it produces in you is eternal. Don’t waste the fire, let it transform you.

Thought to Ponder:
Ask God to reveal what needs to be burned away in your life.

Journaling Prompt:
What might God be trying to remove or refine in you right now?

Closing Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, please remove anything in me that holds me back from You. Show me what I need to change, what I need to fix, and the steps I need to take to be what You want me to be. Purify my heart and set me free. In Jesus Name Amen

Fear Shrinks in God’s Light

Floating swirling energy vortex emitting golden and blue light rays inside a stone pillar hall

Fear grows loud in the dark, but it loses its power in the presence of God. The moment His light enters your situation, what once overwhelmed you begins to fade.

 Bible Verse:
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1

When darkness presses in, fear tries to convince you it’s bigger than your future, stronger than your faith, and closer than God. In this verse we are reminded that the Lord is our light and salvation, meaning His presence exposes fear for what it truly is: powerless in His glory. Light doesn’t fight darkness; it simply overcomes it. When you draw near to God, fear begins to shrink, lose its voice, and fade away. You don’t have to defeat fear alone, just step into His light, and watch it disappear. When God is your light, fear loses its shadows. When He is your stronghold, fear has no claim on your future.

Action Step:
Read this verse aloud in the morning.

Journal Prompt:
What fear feels strongest right now?

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, guide every step I take being my light and strength today. Lord surround me with a hedge of protection placing Your angels around me and being there if I start to let the darkness cover the light. In Jesus Name Amen.

You’re Not Alone in the Fire

Firefighter in protective coat and hood walking in front of blazing fire

The fire doesn’t mean God abandoned you, it proves He is already there. You may be in the flames, but you are never in them alone.

 Bible Verse:
Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished and rose up in haste. He spoke and said to his counselors, “Didn’t we cast three men bound into the middle of the fire?” They answered the king, “True, O king.” He answered, “Look, I see four men loose, walking in the middle of the fire, and they are unharmed. The appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods Daniel 3:24–25

The fire may surround you, but you are never abandoned in it. When the three men were thrown into the furnace, they expected God to deliver, but instead, He joined them in the flames. That changes everything. When the fire was at its hottest, God’s presence was at its closest. God’s presence doesn’t always remove the trial, but it transforms it. What feels like isolation is often the place where God is closest. In your hardest moments, He is walking beside you, sustaining you, strengthening you, and reminding you that you are not alone. The fire that should have consumed them became the place where God revealed Himself. Your trial is not proof of God’s absence, but an opportunity for His presence to be made real. Even when you feel surrounded by heat, pressure, and uncertainty, take heart, God steps into the fire with you and walks you through it.

Thought to Ponder:
Lean into God’s presence today instead of running from your struggle.

Journaling Prompt:
Where have you felt alone recently, and how can you invite God into that space?

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, help me to always remember that You are with me in every fire. Help me feel Your presence and peace. Show that you are there with me in the fire when I am surrounded by chaos. Help me relax when I feel like everything is falling apart. In Jesus Name Amen.

Hope in the Storm

Person standing on rocks by ocean holding lantern with light beam in stormy weather

Hope flows from God, filling your heart with joy and peace as you trust Him. It’s not fragile or uncertain, it overflows through the power of the Holy Spirit, anchoring you even in life’s hardest moments.

 Bible Verse:
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope in the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

Having hope is not wishful thinking, rubbing a magic lamp, or trusting some enchanted thought, it is confidence rooted in God. Even in struggle, pain, and hardship, He fills you with hope that overflows. Hope is not something we manufacture, it is something God fills us with. When life feels uncertain, the Holy Spirit works within us, producing joy and peace that overflow into confident expectation. Biblical hope isn’t wishful thinking; it’s a steady trust that God is faithful to His promises. Even in hardship, hope rises because it is anchored in Him. Let God refill your heart today, trust Him, lean into His presence, and allow His peace to transform your outlook into one of unshakable hope. Let His promises lift your spirit today.

Thought to Ponder: Where do you need hope?

Journal: List three hopes.

Dear Heavenly Father, Help me to gain trust and renew my hope. Lord, direct the Holy Spirit to teach me how to have patience and understanding through all of the  afflictions, confusion and chaos. Please help me to always anchor my trust and hope in You. In Jesus Name Amen.

Even If He Doesn’t

Three people silhouetted against a blazing furnace, holding hands with a glowing dove symbol above them.

Real faith doesn’t hinge on outcomes, it stands firm no matter what. “Even if He doesn’t” is where fear ends and unshakable trust begins.

 Bible Verse:
If it happens, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace; and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image which you have set up.” Daniel 3:17–18

Real faith says, “God can”… but mature faith says, “even if He doesn’t, I still trust Him.” Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego didn’t base their faith on outcomes, they anchored it in God’s character. That kind of faith is unshakable. It doesn’t depend on answered prayers or perfect endings. It stands firm even in uncertainty. When you trust God beyond the result, your faith becomes resilient and unstoppable. You move from conditional belief to complete surrender. That’s where true strength is found. This is fearless faith: trusting God’s power while surrendering to His will. Sometimes God delivers you from the fire; other times, He meets you in it. Either way, He is faithful, and He is worthy of your obedience.

Thought to Ponder:
Declare today: “God, I trust You, even if things don’t go my way.”

Journal Prompt:
Are there areas where your faith depends on a specific outcome?

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, help me trust You beyond circumstances and outcomes. Teach me to stand unyielding, firm, with unrestraint no matter what comes. Give me the patience and understanding to see beyond the circumstances that are in front of me. In Jesus Name Amen.

Held When You’re Weak: The God Who Won’t Let You Fall

A man kneels in a dark stone cell, looking up at a bright beam of light.

When fear tries to hold you back, God reminds you that He strengthens and upholds you. You can move forward knowing He holds you steady. He holds you up when it seems impossible to stand.

 Bible Verse:
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

God does not simply tell us to be brave, He gives the reason: His presence. He promises to strengthen, help, and uphold us with His righteous hand. Whatever you face today, you do not face it alone. Fear loses its grip when our faith remembers who stands with us. God’s strength is greater than your weakness, and His support is constant. Lean into His promises, trust His presence, and move forward with courage, knowing He is holding you steady every step.

Thought to Ponder:
When fear arises today, pause and pray this verse, asking God for strength and peace.

Journaling Prompt:
What fear am I facing right now, and how does trusting God’s presence change my response to it?

God Is Your Healer

A man in robes kneeling and placing his hand on a seated woman's head.

What feels broken isn’t beyond God’s ability to restore, your healing story isn’t over yet. Even in the aftermath of sickness, God is already working to rebuild, renew, and make you whole again.

 Bible Verse:
For I will restore health to you, and I will heal your wounds, says the Lord, because they have called you an outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no one seeks after and for whom no one cares! Jeremiah 30:17

God sees your pain and promises restoration. Healing may come in many forms, physical, emotional, or spiritual, but His care is constant. Even after deep sickness or affliction, God’s heart is renewal, not abandonment. He reminds us that healing is not just physical, it is emotional and spiritual restoration. When weakness lingers and hope feels distant, God is still working beneath the surface, rebuilding strength and bringing wholeness. His healing power meets us in our brokenness and leads us toward renewed life. Trust that He is working even when you cannot see it.

Thought to Ponder:
Try to determine what healing you need.

Journal Prompt:
Describe healing in your life.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, help me to see the light in the dark, bring healing and give me peace. Give me strength and understanding, helping to restore me physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The Day Death Died: How One Empty Tomb Changed Everything Forever

Bright sunlight streaming into an empty stone tomb with a discarded linen cloth.

What if the darkest moment in history was actually the doorway to the greatest victory the world has ever known? Easter is not just the story of Jesus rising, it’s the moment death itself was defeated and hope was reborn for all humanity.

👉 “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” (1 Corinthians 15:55)

Easter, the foundation of our Christian beliefs, stand at the very center of what is the Christian faith. Without the crucifixion, there is no victory, no salvation, and no eternal hope. The Apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15:17, “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.” But the good news, the life-altering, eternity-shifting truth is that Jesus is alive.

To fully grasp Easter, we must first understand the problem it solves. Scripture tells us in Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Sin is not just a mistake, it is a separation from God. In the garden sin created a gap so wide that no human effort could ever bridge it. No good works, no religion, no amount of striving could fix what was broken.

But God, in His love, made a way.

John 3:16 declares, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” When Jesus came it was not just to teach or inspire, but to rescue. He lived a perfect, sinless life and then willingly went to the cross.

On the cross, something supernatural took place. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” Jesus took on the weight of every sin, past, present, and future. The punishment we deserve was placed on Him.

When Jesus cried out in John 19:30, “It is finished,” He wasn’t saying “I am finished”, He was declaring that the work of salvation was complete. The debt had been paid. The sacrifice was enough. But if the story ended there, it would still be a tragedy.

Three days later, everything changed.

In Matthew 28:6, the angel declares at the tomb, “He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.” This is the turning point of history. The resurrection is not just a miracle, it is the validation of everything Jesus claimed. It proves that sin was defeated, the price was accepted, and death no longer has the final word.

Romans 6:9 says, “For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, He cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over Him.” Seriously think about that and let that sink in, death has lost its power. And here’s where it becomes personal.

The resurrection is not just about Jesus, it’s about you.

Because He lives, you can be forgiven. Romans 8:1 says, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” That means your past does not define you. Your failures do not own you. Your shame does not control you.

Because He lives, you can have new life. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” Easter is not just about a risen Savior—it’s about transformed lives.

Because He lives, you have hope beyond this life. In John 11:25, Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die.” Death is no longer the end, it is a doorway into eternity with Him.

An open Invitation

  • The empty tomb is not just proof of life, it is an invitation.
  • An invitation to step out of darkness into light.
  • An invitation to exchange guilt for grace.
  • An invitation to stop striving and start living in the freedom Jesus already paid for.

But every invitation requires a response.

Easter asks each of us a question:

  • What will you do with Jesus?
  • Will you acknowledge Him as Savior?
  • Will you trust Him with your life?
  • Will you live in the power of His resurrection?

The truth is simple but powerful: The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to you today.

  • You don’t have to stay stuck.
  • You don’t have to stay broken.
  • You don’t have to stay in the grave of your past.
  • The stone has already been rolled away.

And because of that—everything can change.

Thought to Ponder

If Jesus truly defeated sin and death, what areas of your life are you still living as if He didn’t?

Journaling Prompt

Write about one area of your life where you need resurrection power, where you feel stuck, defeated, or hopeless. Then reflect on how the truth of Jesus’ resurrection speaks directly into that situation.

Closing Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You for the cross, where my sin was paid for, and for the empty tomb, where death was defeated. Lord, help me to fully understand and live in the power of the resurrection. Where there is fear, bring faith. Where there is brokenness, bring healing. Where there is doubt, bring truth. I surrender my life to You—make me new, lead me forward, and help me walk in victory. In Jesus Name Amen.

Peace Beyond Understanding; Help In the Dark

Hooded person sitting in the dark holding a glowing spherical lamp.

God offers peace that doesn’t depend on circumstances, it guards your heart and mind.

 Bible Verse:
And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7

God provides a peace that doesn’t depend on test results or circumstances. His peace guards and protects your heart and mind, quieting fear and anxiety. Even when there are questions that remain, His calming presence can fill your spirit and steady your thoughts. When sickness overwhelms your body and fear fills your mind, Philippians 4:7 reminds you that God offers a peace that goes beyond understanding. It doesn’t always remove the pain, but it steadies your heart in the middle of it. Even when answers don’t come and your strength feels gone, if you allow Him, His peace will stand guard over your thoughts and emotions. You are not alone in this battle, God is there, holding you together when the chaos, frustration, and even when everything it feels like it’s falling apart.

Thought to Ponder:
Identify what is stealing your peace.

Journal Prompt:
Write a surrender prayer.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You feeling overwhelmed, weak, and afraid. You see the sickness in my body and the worry in my heart. When I have fear that rises and peace feels distant, remind me that You are near. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard my heart and mind. Lord, give me strength for today, courage for tomorrow, and rest in this moment. Calm every anxious thought and replace it with Your truth. Help me trust You even when I don’t understand what I’m going through. Hold me steady, carry me when I feel like I can’t go on, and surround me with Your comfort. In Jesus Name Amen

The Silence Is Deafening

Jesus Christ on the cross with bright lightning bolts in a dark, stormy sky.

The night is real, but it is temporary. In God’s timing, sorrow gives way to victory, and what felt like silence becomes the very space where faith is strengthened and morning is born.

 Bible Verse:
“Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” — Psalm 30:5

The day after the crucifixion was filled with silence, confusion, and grief. It seemed like hope was gone and darkness covered the land, but God was still at work. Yet that silence was not absence, it was preparation. In that still, painful “night,” victory was being secured. This day reminds us that just because we don’t see movement doesn’t mean God is absent. In the waiting, He is preparing something greater. Easter teaches us that a lot of times the silence comes in the space where God is setting up a miracle. The cross was not the end, but the turning point. What looked like defeat became the doorway to resurrection, reminding us that God often does His greatest work in the quiet before breakthrough.

Thought to Ponder:
Trust God in the waiting, think about one situation where you need patience and need to choose to believe He is working.

Journal Prompt:
Where in my life do I feel like I’m in a season of waiting or silence?

A Good Friday Introduction: The Weight of the Cross

Jesus carrying a heavy wooden cross while wearing a crown of thorns amidst a crowd.

The cross wasn’t the end, it was the moment everything changed. What looked like defeat on Good Friday became the greatest victory the world has ever known.

 Bible Verse:
So Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him. Hebrews 9:28

On this sacred day known as Good Friday, we step into one of the most sobering and powerful moments in human history, the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. This is a day marked not by celebration, but by reflection, awe, and deep gratitude. Without context, it feels like a contradiction. Why call a day of suffering and death something “good”? However, it was in this very darkness that the greatest light of God’s love shines.

Good Friday compels us to confront the reality of sin. The cross was not simply a tragic execution; it was a divine appointment. Jesus, though innocent, was condemned under the authority of Pontius Pilate, rejected by the very people who once shouted His praise. Just days earlier, He was welcomed as King. Now, He is beaten, mocked, and led to Golgotha. This dramatic shift reveals the fragile nature of human loyalty and the depth of spiritual blindness.

When we know we can see that it was not a loss of control, it was the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan. Jesus Himself declared in John 10:18, “No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord.” Every nail driven into His hands, every drop of blood shed, carried eternal significance. Isaiah 53:5 reminds us, “He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities… and by His wounds we are healed.”

Good Friday is where justice and mercy came together. God’s holiness demanded that sin be dealt with; His love provided the sacrifice. At the cross, Jesus became the substitute for humanity, bearing the weight of sin so that we might receive forgiveness and reconciliation. This is not just theology, it is deeply personal. The cross declares that your sin, your shame, your brokenness were seen, known, and carried by Christ.

The sky darkened, the earth shook, and for a moment, it seemed as though hope itself had died. Jesus cried out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46). In that cry, we hear the depth of His suffering, not just physical, but spiritual, as He bore the separation that sin creates between humanity and God.

But, even in the silence, God was working. What looked like defeat was actually victory. The cross was not the end of the story, it was the turning point. If Good Friday had never happened, there is no resurrection Sunday. Without the cross, there is no empty tomb.

As we contemplate the meaning of this day, we are invited not just to remember, but to respond. The cross calls us to humility, repentance, and faith. It asks us to lay down our lives, just as Christ laid down His. It reminds us that love is not merely spoken, it is demonstrated through sacrifice.

Good Friday is “good” because it reveals the immeasurable love of God has for His children. It is good because through death came life, through suffering came healing, and through sacrifice came salvation. Today, we stand at the foot of the cross, not in despair, but in reverent gratitude, knowing that Sunday is coming.

Important Good Friday Verses, An Undeniable Perspective

1. Isaiah 53:5
“But he was pierced for our transgressions… and by his wounds we are healed.”
👉 This verse prophetically reveals that Jesus’ suffering was not random, it was purposeful. Every wound He endured brought spiritual healing and restoration to us.

2. John 19:30
“It is finished.”
👉 Jesus’ final words declare that the work of salvation is complete. Nothing needs to be added, He fully paid the price for sin once and for all.

3. Romans 5:8
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
👉 The cross is the ultimate proof of God’s love, not when we were perfect, but in our brokenness.

4. 1 Peter 2:24
“He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross…”
👉 Jesus took our place, carrying the weight of sin so we could walk in freedom and righteousness.

5. Luke 23:34
“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”
👉 Even in unimaginable pain, Jesus chose forgiveness, worrying about those who wronged Him. This shows the depth of His mercy and calls us to extend grace to others.

6. Matthew 27:46
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
👉 This moment reflects the heavy cost of sin as Jesus experienced separation, so we would never have to.

7. Colossians 2:14
“…having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness… he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.”
👉 Our debt of sin has been completely erased, there is no condemnation left for those in Christ.

8. Hebrews 9:28
“So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many…”
👉 Jesus’ sacrifice was final and sufficient, no repeated offering is needed.

⚡ Thought to Ponder

Take 10 minutes today to quietly reflect on the cross. Identify one area of your life where you need to fully accept God’s forgiveness or extend forgiveness to someone else, and act on it.

📓 Journal Prompt

What does the cross of Jesus personally mean to me today, and how should it change the way I live, think, and treat others?

🙏 Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the sacrifice You made on the cross for me. You took my sin, my shame, and my brokenness, and in exchange, You gave me grace, forgiveness, and new life. Help me never take that for granted. Teach me to live in humility, walk in obedience, and love others the way You have loved me. Today, I surrender my heart again to You. In Jesus Name Amen.

You Are Not Alone; God Is With You

Two men in biblical attire walking together with arms around each other's shoulders.

You are not walking this road alone, God is right beside you in every moment of fear and uncertainty.

 Bible Verse:
Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’  Isaiah 41:10

You are not alone, you have so many around you fighting for you. But most importantly you have the creator of the universe, God standing beside you in every moment. When fear rises, remember His promise to strengthen and uphold you. His presence is not distant; it is steady, personal, and constant. Even in uncertainty, you are held securely in His hands. His presence is not conditional on your strength or your understanding, it is relentless. Even when emotions rise and uncertainty feels overwhelming, God is not distant. He walks with you through every trial, appointment, waiting room, and every sleepless night. His promise to strengthen and uphold you means you are supported by something far greater than yourself. You may not feel strong, but feel uncertain, flighty and even overwhelmed, but know His strength is already at work within you.

Thought to Ponder:
Where do you sense God’s presence today?

Journal Prompt:
Write about a moment of peace.

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, remind and show me that You are near. Help me to see You when I am overwhelmed and am doubting. Lord give me the strength to walk through this when I feel confused and uncertain. Lord place your mighty angels around me fighting off the junk that the devil is throwing at me. Lord, use this to glorify You. Thank you for everything You do. In Jesus Name Amen.

Five Words That Changed The World

Jesus kneeling in prayer among olive trees in the Garden of Gethsemane at night.

Jesus teaches us to trust God’s plan, even when it’s painful. Surrendering our will allows God to work in ways we cannot understand.

 Bible Verse:
“Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”— Luke 22:42

In Gethsemane, Jesus faced overwhelming sorrow and pressure, yet He chose obedience over escape. His prayer shows us that surrender is not weakness, it is strength. Jesus models the ultimate act of surrender, praying, “Not my will, but yours be done.” completely trusting God’s perfect plan. This powerful verse teaches that true faith is found in yielding control, even when the path is painful or unclear. When life becomes heavy, our instinct is often to run. For believers seeking spiritual growth, surrendering to God’s will brings peace, strength, and purpose, reminding us that God’s plan is always greater than our own desires.

Thought to Ponder:
Surrender one fear or burden to God in prayer today, releasing control to Him.

Journal Prompt:
What is something I’m struggling to surrender to God right now?

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, I trust Your will even when it’s difficult. Give me the strength to surrender my plans, fears, and desires to You. Help me walk in obedience and faith. In Jesus Name Amen

God Goes Before You

Person walking along a path toward a large cross during a misty golden sunrise.

When taking the next step you are never alone.

 Bible Verse:
And the Lord who is your leader, he himself will be with thee: he will not leave thee, nor forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8

When you are surrounded by all of the chaos, the noise and you never seem like you are getting a break. You need to understand you are never walking into the unknown alone. God goes before you, not behind, you are never walking into the unknown alone, He’s preparing the way and guarding your steps. You are never abandoned or forgotten. When fear whispers and the road feels unknown, trust His presence. Move forward in obedience and confidence, knowing the Lord Himself walks with you, faithful, unchanging, and strong enough to carry you through every challenge. Direction is not about fear of the future but confidence in God’s presence.

Thought to Ponder:
Pray before making any decision today.

The Servant King

A bearded man in a simple tunic kneels to wash the feet of another man.

Real leadership isn’t about power, it’s about serving like Jesus, even when it costs your pride. If you want to live out authentic Christian faith, start by lowering yourself and lifting others.

 Bible Verse:
“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.”John 13:14

Jesus, knowing His authority and His destiny, chose to serve. Jesus modeled radical humility by washing His disciples’ feet, even the one who would betray Him. This was an act reserved for the lowest servant. By doing this, He redefines leadership in the Kingdom of God as service, not status. This radical humility reveals the heart of God. True greatness is not found in power, but in service. As followers of Christ, we are called to reflect His character. This powerful moment teaches that Christian leadership is rooted in serving others, putting pride aside, and living out faith through everyday acts of compassion and obedience. Easter reminds us that love serves, even when it’s inconvenient or undeserved.

Thought to Ponder:
Serve someone today in a practical, humble way without expecting recognition.

Journal Prompt:
Who can I serve today, and what is holding me back from doing it?

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, teach me to have a servant’s heart like Yours. Show me how to lay down pride and love others selflessly. Teach me to serve with humility, grace, and compassion. In Jesus Name Amen

Return home; Home Coming

A man and child in ancient tunics running and laughing past stone ruins.

No matter how far you’ve fallen, the Father is already moving toward you with forgiveness, restoration, and unstoppable love.

“He arose and came to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him and was moved with compassion, and ran, fell on his neck, and kissed him. Luke 15:20

No matter how far you’ve wandered, God sees you coming. He doesn’t stand there tapping his foot waiting with folded arms, but runs toward you with compassion. Returning to Christ isn’t about fixing yourself first, it’s about coming honestly. Shame tells you to stay away; grace invites you home. Today is not about explaining your past, only responding to His open arms. No matter how far you have wandered, God is always watching, waiting, and ready to welcome you home. It’s a powerful picture of redemption, second chances, and the overwhelming mercy found in God’s presence.

The Light in the Dark (part 6)

Let Your Light Shine

When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior there will be times when we mess up. We are human, not perfect, there was only one man that was perfect and He is in heaven with the Father. There will be those that will point out that you are a hypocrite, usually it is yourself more than others. There is a set of verses that is in the bible right after one of the most popular verses in scripture. The verse let us know that Jesus came to save us in John 3:16 and in the next two verses we are reassured that He came to be our mediator. For God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him. He who believes in him is not judged. John 3:17-18 WEB

There will be times when we mess up but if we keep putting one foot in front of the other He will always be there. Let your light shine and don’t worry about a little stumble, it happens: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin 1 John 1:7 ESV In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 ESV

Be Prepared

I talk a lot about reading the bible and I cannot say it enough the only way to stay in the light is to know where it is. In the bible it talks about the need to test the spirits to make sure that they are from God 1 John 4:1. We have been warned the devil poses as an angel of light 2 Corinthians 11:14. So the only way to discern, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, what is from God is to know the owners manual that He has given us.

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts. Always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear, having a good conscience. Thus, while you are spoken against as evildoers, they may be disappointed who curse your good way of life in Christ. 1 Peter 3:15-16 WEB

Choose Your Light

We have a choice to make in our lives that will determine our eternal life, follow Jesus or follow the world. He who believes in him is not judged. He who doesn’t believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God. This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil.

In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. John 4:9-10

Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. James 1:13-16 ESV

Human Behavior

We, Humans, have a tendency to not take responsibility for actions even at times blaming others for what we have done. We are in a relationship and we can never do wrong never accepting that we might also be 50% of the problem. We get pulled over and get a ticket because we were speeding, we argue with the officer because we know we were not. We are fishing and take that one extra fish, we get checked by the Game Warden and receive a fine. We then try to argue and reason with the officer even though we made the decision to keep the extra fish.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some actions that have taken place that we have had no control over. But if we keep walking in what happened to us in the past we’ll never leave those circumstances. Let’s look at the positive and negative actions of this focus. The positive; because history has a way of repeating itself we remember these things so that we’ll try to make sure they never happen again. The negative; sometimes we have a tendency to focus on this bad and never see anything else, I do this sometimes. This mindset is hard to get out of once we have put ourselves there. This will keep us in a state of always being victimized, not allowing us to move beyond what happened.

What the Bible Says

But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 3:13-14 WEB And they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will. 2 Timothy 2:26 ESV For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. Galatians 5:13 ESV

Some advice

I have Multiple Sclerosis and with all of the issues that get tossed at me on a daily basis I have done two things that has always kept me afloat. I always pray and I always try to find at least one positive thing that happened in the bad. These two things have helped me get through not being able to walk for awhile, see and hear. The positive is that it comes and goes, there are a lot of things I used to do I cannot do anymore. But I got new things that I would have never done if I would not have gotten the MS.

He’s Got This

Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1 WEB

No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB

Your Not of This World

Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2 WEB

His Light is Becoming Brighter

Little children, these are the end times, and as you heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have arisen. By this we know that it is the final hour. 1 John 2:18 WEB

Fighting the Dark

Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God,

that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood,

but against the principalities,

against the powers,

against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age,

and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Therefore put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist,

and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace,

above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.

And take the helmet of salvation,

and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit,

and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints Ephesians 6:10-18 WEB

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for guiding my footsteps when life has seemed its darkest You have always carried me through. In Jesus Name Amen

Choices

When we become aware of who we are at a young age we have to start making choices. As a baby, even though we will not remember, we made the choice to first pull ourselves up, start to crawl and finally walk. Each decision we make no matter how small has some kind of consequence positive or negative.

We are hungry and want to grab something to eat. We could go to a fast food restaurant or could cook a meal. The positive of the fast food; it is quick and you don’t have to do the work. The negative; you do not know what is in the food that you are eating and the ingredients that are used are not good for your body. In the long run you’ll have the possibility of getting heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and few other conditions. Eating out also costs more than eating a homemade meal.

The positives of eating a home cooked meal. You can make something that you like, that tastes good, it is healthy and you have control of the ingredients. Eating at home costs less and you can use higher quality food. The negative of homemade, it takes time to cook, you have to do the work, and you have to clean up the mess.

Choose Your Light

We have a choice to make in our lives that will determine our eternal life, follow Jesus or follow the world. He who believes in him is not judged. For everyone who does evil hates the light, and doesn’t come to the light, lest his works would be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his works may be revealed, that they have been done in God.” John 3:18-21 WEB

Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. A Lack of Knowledge

Caution

In the book of Hosea, we are given a harsh but eye opening rebuke; My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge Hosea 4:6 ESV We are always so “busy” to read the bible, and to spend time praying and getting to know God. I am not trying to throw stones I am guilty of it also. After a long hard day we want to come home sit down and relax. We have put in so many hours or getting up fifteen minutes early will take a few minutes of desperately need sleep. We can admit we can find an extra 10 mins here or there that we could spare. There are many things and issues that distract us and take away the time we have. What is 10 mins. in the scope of eternity: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 ESV

Perspective

Our lives are so short compared to the opportunity that we have been given through a life following Jesus Christ. We have a decision that can be made that will end with two separate but important results. One living with the best Dad you could ask for. The other decision is living with an abusive guardian that will torture you for the rest of eternity. In reality our lives are short and pass by so fast. We need to make that decision as soon as we can. Like Christ’s return we do not know the time or the number of days that we have. We have not been told that we are going to be perfect. There was only one that walked this earth that was perfect, His name was Jesus Christ. Do not beat yourself up when making a mistake ask for forgiveness and do your best not to do it again. For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. James 3:2 ESV

Rebuked

There will be some that accept the lie that there is nothing, it is sad what do they have to live for. They will belittle some, yell and scream at others, and they will try to make you doubt what you are doing. Stand firm and pray for them be the light they need. Like moths to a lamp, they will flock to what is good, after all isn’t that what we all want? And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:3-6 ESV

Be the light and let God sow the seeds that have been planted by the light and love that you have shared. Remember, the God of this world has been around longer than we have. He is jealous and wants to destroy every thing that God, the one true God has created. The devil has created so much division in the world. Looking around, the gospel is not the only thing being rebuked. Families, truth, science, even common sense. I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive. Romans 16:17-18 ESV

Smooth Talkers

There are so many things when we look around that are deceiving massive amounts of people. If we know the Bible and what it says we will create a huge road block that is hard to bypass, like a hedge of protection. There are so many versions of people trying to be spiritual. Different ways to make it to God, those claiming theirs is the right way, do not be deceived. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:5-14ESV

His Word

Through the Holy Spirit, God guided the people that He chose to write the bible? These words that we have been given are one of the best owners manuals you can own. When we have a question, a problem, need encouragement or anything else God wrote it down so we have His help in everything!  All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,  so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.2 Timothy 3: 16-17

The Light in the Dark (part 4)

The Walk

This is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie, and don’t tell the truth.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:5-9 WEB

To open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of satan to God, that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’ Acts 26:18 WEB

As the light is being shed on all of the chaos. It is creating doubt making us stop and wonder why and how can people not see what is going on. Some have become so delusional that they are praising what is going on as being good. There are attacks on our children, our families, and values.

All of the distractions, are leading us away from the direction that Jesus told us we are a “a light to the world.” We need to stop covering the light. No matter how dark it seems or is we should never let the dark cover our light. Uncover and find that light, shout it out and let it shine.

You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden. Neither do you light a lamp and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house. Even so, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16 WEB

This has all been prophesied throughout the Bible the surest and only way to navigate through every thing that is going on is to follow the map we have been given, the Bible. We have Jesus’ words and the Holy Spirit as our personal guides.

That was a little of my commentary but this is what the bible says (God’s words)

He’s Got This

Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved in various trials, that the proof of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes even though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:6-7 WEB

He Chose You

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without defect before him in love, having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire Ephesians 1:3-5 WEB

God is Faithful

But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 WEB

Your Not of This World

For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will also be part of his resurrection; knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. But if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him; knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over him! For the death that he died, he died to sin one time; but the life that he lives, he lives to God. Thus consider yourselves also to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:5-11 WEB

His Light is Becoming Brighter

But the Spirit says expressly that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons, through the hypocrisy of men who speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron, forbidding marriage and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 1 Timothy 4:1-3 WEB

How to Fight the Dark

And take the helmet of salvation,

and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit,

and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints Ephesians 6:10-18 WEB

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for guiding my footsteps when life has seemed its darkest You have always carried me through. Making sure that my feet have landed where they should. I am sorry for the times I have doubted You but still you have kept on the path. In Jesus Name Amen

Sometimes we look around and wonder what is going on, I do. The confusion, all the things that make us stop and shake our heads are being praised as being good. Attacks on our children, our families, and values.

It seems like the more offensive it is the greater it is being praised. Crime is up all over the world. There are leaders that are only looking out for their own interests and not that of the people they are in charge of. There are wars and rumors of wars. It seems to be coming from all sides:

The Light in the Dark (part 1)

light in the dark

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty. Darkness was on the surface of the deep and God’s Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters.God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw the light, and saw that it was good. God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light “day”, and the darkness he called “night”. There was evening and there was morning, the first day. Genesis 1:1-5 WEB

From the beginning God divided the darkness from the light, we are told the earth was formless and empty. When God created the light it separated the dark void that was surrounding everything. The first move God made was light and when it was complete after seeing what He’d done He was pleased and knew the light was good.

A Quick Thought

Imagine a scenario in which you are lost in a forest during a cloudy night where the moon cannot give you its light. You don’t have your smartphone to be used as a flashlight. It is so dark that you cannot see the hand in front of your face. There is simply no light to be found. As you are wandering through the dark forest, you have now traveled so far that you have forgotten which direction you have come from.

Suddenly off in the distance appears a man making his way through the forest with his flashlight. Knowing that he may be able to help, you carefully make your way to him. Upon meeting the man with the flashlight he instructs you that he is very familiar with the forest and that he is able to help you navigate out of the forest back to your house. All that you need to do is follow him as he shines his light for you to see. The question I want to ask you is – will you follow this man who is able to give you light, or will you continue to walk in the dark though you know that the man with the light could lead you home?

So it is with our walk with Christ. Our knowledge of the light will do us no good unless we follow the light; unless we walk in the light of God.

Nicki Imperato

God has always separated the light from the dark. This is why you can never go wrong when you follow and focus on the light! When we look away from the light and pay attention to the darkness eventually we will not see the light but become overwhelmed by the dark. We will start to believe the lies that are being whispered in our ears. As everything becomes heavier and heavier it’ll seem that we cannot take another breath.

Always remember God created the light, He divided the light from the dark. It has not changed since the first day He created the earth. We need some sort of light for everything. It is an essential part of life on earth. Plants need light to grow, and search for any small amount of light when there is none.

Sun-light is a key energy source for all plants. Through a process called photosynthesis, plants absorb energy from the sun, which fuels the processes necessary for their survival.

Humans need light to get vitamins, improve heal and mental well-being.

Sunlight is essential for human health and well-being. The health benefits of sunlight include generating the production of vitamin D, supporting bone health, lowering blood pressure, preventing disease, and promoting good mental health.

What is the Bible Part 7, Interpretation

Interpretation
?

You can’t quote the Bible indiscriminately. There is a story of two lawyers. One thought he would make a great impression on the jury by quoting from the Bible. So he said concerning his opponent’s client, “We have it on the highest authority that it has been said, ‘All that a man has will he give for his skin.'” But the other lawyer knew the Bible better. He said, “I am very impressed by the fact that my distinguished colleague here regards as the highest authority the one who said, ‘All that a man has will he give for his skin.’ You will find that this saying comes from the Book of Job, and the one who utters it is the devil. And that is whom he regards as the highest authority!”

Rat Stedman

It is so important to know and understand what the Bible says. We are told in Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” that cannot be said more directly. There have been so many sayings that are supposedly from the Bible and have been repeated so many times that people “know” that the sayings are from God Himself. Let’s take a look at a few:

  1. “A fool and his money are soon parted” Thomas Tusser (1573) “Five Hundreth Pointes of Good Husbandrie”
  2. “Beggars Can’t Be Choose” English Proverb from around the 1500’s
  3. “Charity Begins at Home” Sir Thomas Browne (1605-1682)
  4. “Cleanliness is Next to Godliness” Francis Bacon (1561-1626) and then again by John Wesley (1703-1791)
  5. “Everything that Glitters is Gold” Shakespeare
  6. “God Helps those who Help Themselves” Algernon Sidney (1623-1683) and then again Benjiman Franklin (1706-1790)
  7. “Love conquers all” Vigil (70 BC-19 BC)
  8. “The Lord Works in Mysterious Ways” William Cowper (1731-1800)
  9. “To Thineself Be True” Shakespeare
  10. Quoted from “Encouraging Bible Quotes” Kathrine Walden

Over the years and even centuries, these sayings have found their way into sermons and Christian language as being from the bible. They have been so weaved in that they have been quoted as verses from the bible. Like I said before. If it is happening now, it has happened before humans in that instance are very predictable, it’s the always turning Ferris wheel. For you have forgotten the God of your salvation and have not remembered the Rock of your refuge; therefore, though you plant pleasant plants and sow the vine-branch of a stranger, Isaiah 17:10 ESV

Sowing the vine of a stranger is exactly what is happening when we blindly follow what others say, trusting that what is being cited is accurate. If you spend the time learning what the Bible says, it will make so that there will be less of a chance that you’ll be deceived. I know some of this seems redundant but the reason I have focused on this so much is because I fell for some of the deception. God showed me the way I was going was a dead end straight off of a cliff. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God Ephesions 2.8 ESV Remember and never forget: the devil disguises himself as an angel of light 2 Corinthians 11:14 ESV wrapping things into little gems of knowledge that we want to hear. 2 Timothy 4:3-4 AMP For the time is coming when [people] will not tolerate (endure) sound and wholesome instruction, but, having ears itching [for something pleasing and gratifying], they will gather to themselves one teacher after another to a considerable number, chosen to satisfy their own liking and to foster the errors they hold, And will turn aside from hearing the truth and wander off into myths and man-made fictions.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the direction and gift that You have given us in the pages of the Bible. Help us navigate the correct path that You want us to travel and rebuke the deceitfulness of the devil. Help me understand every word in this book. In Jesus Name Amen

What is the Bible Part 6, Only the New Testament

Only the New Testement
Why do some say only the New Testament matters?

Once, when a stubborn disputer seemed unconvinced, Lincoln said, “Well, let’s see how many legs has a cow?” “Four, of course,” came the reply disgustedly. “That’s right,” agreed Lincoln. “Now suppose you call the cow’s tail a leg; how many legs would the cow have?” “Why, five, of course,” was the confident reply. “Now, that’s where you’re wrong,” said Lincoln. “Calling a cow’s tail a leg doesn’t make it a leg.”

Bits & Pieces, July 1991

There seems to be a few different people that say the only thing that we have to pay attention to in the Bible is the New Testament because after Jesus came the New Testament is all that matters. That creates the question that we should always ask ourselves. What Did Jesus Say (WDJS): But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:4 ESV Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8 ESV So with these two statements, one from Jesus Himself, we are told that we need His direction and He does not change. So when the statement’s been made that proclaims that we do not have to pay attention to the Old Testament. Understand it is going against the words that came out of the mouth of Jesus.

Another thing to consider; when Jesus was quoting the “Word” it was not the New Testament.  The Old Testament was all that had been written up to that point. So to say that the Old Testament has no validity today is to say that what Jesus quoted was worthless. I know that is a very bold statement, but it is what we are being told and what has been said in the past by some church leaders. I am not knocking any church, but I want you to understand that some well-intentioned people have made statements that do not match the narrative we have been told. Jesus told us: Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. Matthew 24:35 ESV Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” John 7:38 ESV

John told us: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1 ESV And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14 ESV Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. John 17:17 ESV

Paul wrote a letter to Timothy to advise and encourage him. Paul told him: And how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:15-17 ESV Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 ESV Paul also told the Thesilonians: And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers. 1Thesilonians 2:13 ESV

Finally, James tells us: Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls .But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:21-22 ESV

The people listed above knew Jesus while He was on earth. Over and over again; they told us that we need to be familiar with the entire Bible. It’s not just the parts that you like or the verse or chapter that fits what someone wants you to know. Read and know the entire Bible so that you are never deceived. Like I mentioned; these are just a few instances from the New Testament, there are more. When you read the Old Testament, you will see the importance that was put on knowing all scripture as well.

When I was younger and did not read or for that matter understand what the Bible was or what it said, I will also say I am not an old man either. I would be deceived by only hearing what I wanted to hear. I used to entertain statements like Jesus never claimed to be the Messiah. The Bible is just a bunch of stories that give examples for morality. God was an unloving, cruel God that does not care about anyone or anything. There are some that say Jesus was not God in flesh, that the devil and Jesus are brothers, and when Jesus came to earth He gave up His Diety. I’ve even heard one theory that God screwed up making us the first time, destroyed it all, and Adam and Eve is the second try for creating humanity. The list can go on and on.

This all has been created by the devil to make us doubt the word of God. In Ephisions 6:12 we are told: For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. It is important to know who, what, and why we are fighting.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for all that You have created. Thank you for the entire Bible and the direction that you give us. It all helps us see life through the eyes You want us to have. Lord; help us understand the message You have for so that we will never be deceived. In Jesus Name Amen

What is the Bible Part 5, To Control

the bible is just for control?
?

Em Griffin in his book The Mindchangers describes an experiment done by Solomon Asch with groups of 12 people. They were brought into a room where four lines of unequal length were displayed. They had to decide which two were the same length and publicly vote for their choice. Person after person after person (11 in all) voted for the wrong line–because they had all been told to ahead of time. The one individual who was in the dark couldn’t imagine how in the world all these seemingly normal people could all choose the wrong line. When it was his turn to vote, he had to decide, “Do I go with what I know my senses are telling me, or do I go with the crowd?” 1/3 of those tested caved in to group pressure and changed their vote to agree with their peers.

Em Griffin, The Mindchangers, Tyndale House, 1976

There are some that have said that the Bible is used to control people. Honestly, I do not disagree throughout history the bible has actually been used to control people. People are always trying to find ways to manipulate things so they can gain an advantage over others. In the past kingdoms used it to control their people and did some horrendous things that were never acceptable, and it was said to be in the name of Jesus. There are some, even today, that will misinterpret what it says to control whole congregations, some have even rewrote and placed their own tweaks so it kind of looks the same but it is not. When applied through the eyes of man that is exactly what happens. This is a sad reality that so many people have died in the name of God because a human need to control everything. Application is everything.

As you learn the bible more and more you will even see that the devil uses the bible to try and control people. It says he disguises himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). Satan is so arrogant that he even tried to use the bible against Jesus when Jesus was being tempted in the wilderness (Matthew 4:6). So those who say the bible is used to control people, you are correct it can be used that way if you do not know what the bible says. We have been saved by faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9) not by what someone says or does for you. Jesus is the only way to the Father (John 14:6). Remember we have freewill (Revelation 3:20) to choose if you want to follow Him but it is important to know the bible so that you are not deceived.

In the Bible we are told My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge Hosea 4:6 ESV For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. Titus 3:3 ESV Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 ESV

If you have this lack of knowledge you will be able to be controled by those with bad intentions. There are some that seem to mean well but are deceived themselves. That is why in Hosea 4:6 we are given this bleak warning that there will be some that will be destroyed because of lack of knowledge. I would never want to b the people Jesus refers to in Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘LORD, LORD,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘LORD, LORD, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ I will leave you with a few more quotes from people in our past have lived through some major stuff.

“The devil can cite Scripture for his purpose.”

William Shakespeare

“When one with honeyed words but evil mind

Persuades the mob, great woes befall the state.”

Euripides, Orestes

“It’s discouraging to think how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit.”

What is the Bible Part 4, Fairy Tales

Is the bible a fairy tale
?

I have been around Christianity since I was born and can say that I have heard many different perspectives on exactly what the bible is. Because of all of these different opinions I walked away from Christianity for about 16 years, there had to be a better way. I wasn’t wrong, I had to stop listening to people’s opinions and listen to the words that we are given from God Himself, the Bible. There’s an interesting perspective that the Bible is a nice little compilation of fairy tales, which can all be clarified with science and logic. Ultimately; the bible is a history lesson that keeps on being attacked:

Altering history by teaching manipulated stories, facts, and data is a means of promoting specific ideologies and agendas. This can be achieved by creating events that did not happen, altering events that did happen, or omitting events altogether. Over time, knowledge of the truth will die with those who lived or witnessed it, and the alternate version will be universally accepted as true. Distorting history is an effective method of erasing events from the minds of the population, of glorifying events and people in support of state ideals, and vilifying events and people in conflict with state ideals. Presenting history in a way that supports the agenda of the state, and reinforcing it through the public education system and the media can be used to control the perceptions of the populace in ways that prevent dissent and promote nationalism.

Evergreen.edu
  • Semantic Manipulation: Semantic Manipulation is a kind of distortion of words and this is a kind of distortion of history as well. Also when we change the past meaning of words we lose touch with historical meanings of those same words.
  • Denialism: One of the ways to distort history is to deny that certain events happened the way that history tells us they didn’t, or to deny that they happened at all.
  • Cultural imperialism: The famous quote, “History is written by the victors,” may be widely disputed by historians, but history is certainly skewed toward dominant cultures that successfully practice Cultural Imperialism.
  • Ultra-nationalism: At the core of ultra-nationalism is the need to rewrite any history that does not agree with our view of our nation being a just and deserving nation that is a force for good in the world… or something to this effect.
  • Dumbing Down: Sometimes history is complicated and not black and white but mixed with varying shades of gray, blue, and… fuchsia? Whatever the exact mix of colors, this can sometimes make the past a complicated and morally ambiguous mess. This mess can be “fixed” (Dumbed Down) by taking out the questionable bits and repackaging them to fit some agenda; even if that agenda is just to feel like the world is an understandable place where villains are always beaten by unicorns riding rainbows of justice. You get the idea.
  • Xenophobia: History distortion can have a lot to do with distorting different cultures to make them seem less sympathetic and more evil and bad. So you look better; because you aren’t them.

The logic and absolute of science has been tested more and more; it has proven itself as what it is a “Theory” of beliefs, what one might even call a religion of faith all to its own. That is why they have something called a Hypothises. Definition of hypotheses: a proposition made as a basis for reasoning, without any assumption of its truth. Here’s a little science from the bible. It referenced the sphere that is the earth in the Old Testament, Isaiah 40:22. This was when the rest of “science” believed the earth was flat. It says that when there is severe sickness, the sick need to be quarantined, Leviticus 13:1-5. It referenced the Mountain ranges under the ocean, Psalm 104:6. The University of Leicester in 2014 proved that the measurements given for Noahs ark, Genesis 6:13-22, would have floated.

But with all of that said science has done so much for us. It helps humans understand how things work; ex. gravity, electricity, the solar system, and medicine. Science is from God, He wants us to test everything 1 John 4:1 and Romans 12:2. Science provides medical advancements that keep the diseases of old away. I am not a denier of science, in fact in a lot of cases it helps prove the “fairy tales” in the bible. Look into archeology, biblical tips on psychology, the need for companionship. God has given us a brain that is a learn, with this knowledge we have doctors and scientists that have been able to learn to do what they do. In school it is taught that the Bible is superstition that helps leaders control other people. We will talk about this later in an upcoming post.

We need to do our own research and study the Bible and not believe what others are saying. Even if you are not a believer the tips that are in this book will help you live a better life, after all what could that hurt. Some will believe that it is a book of fair tails but if we take the time to research, even though sometimes it will take a bit of effort because so much has been changed and hidden but it’s still out there. You will find how accurate it is, the Romans kept meticulous records, even in the short time I have been alive I have seen things changed and rewritten to fit agendas. I will leave with a few qutoes from history to think about:

“What you do in this world is a matter of no consequence. The question is what can you make people believe you have done.”

Arthur Conan Doyle

“The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history.”

George Orwell

“Give me just one generation of youth, and I’ll transform the whole world.”

Vladimir Ilyich Lenin

What is the Bible Part 3 it’s the Past

The bible is just for control?
?

“The word of God directs us in our work and way, and a dark place indeed the world would be without it. The commandment is a lamp kept burning with the oil of the Spirit, as a light to direct us in the choice of our way, and the steps we take in that way.”

Matthew Henry

I was kind of what you would call a nerd in school, I was weird, awkward, and one of my favorite subjects was History. Throughout history humans seem to repeat the same mistakes over and over again, “I can do it better this time”. So lets put that into a modern perspective; today we drive cars, back then they drove chariots, back then they even found ways not to walk.

In the past they dealt with political strife, you can read about the “Judges” in the books of Judges, read about Saul in the book of Samuel, the first Jewish king. Research the Roman, Egyption, and Chinese Empires. You’ll notice a striking resemblance to what is going on today. Back then they were trying to destroy each other at any cost, just like they are doing today. We seem to be set up in a wash rinse repeat cycle.

The diversity, political posturing, and ongoing political venues have not changed. It is still a never ending fight for who has the power. When you say the Bible happened a long time ago you are right! Does it matter today? Yes; as human beings we keep going the same direction time and time again. God gave us this owner’s manual so that we might stop this vicious circle that we cannot seem to get ourselves out of. When you read the Bible, you are taking steps to jump off the never ending rollercoaster we are on. You can exit all of its ups and downs, the going in circles and the neck breaking turns. The bible helps, when followed, so that you stop making the same mistakes over and over again.

What is the Bible Part 2 History

?

If someone asked you where to find the Bible verse that begins, “For God so loved the world…you’d probably know he was asking about John 3:16. If you had a Bible, you could find it for him in no time. But there was a time when no one could find a single verse in the whole Bible. There was no John 3:16, Genesis l:l or any other verse because the Bible wasn’t divided into verses or even chapters. Worse yet, there were hundreds of years when there weren’t even any word divisions. Punctuation marks, capital letters and even vowels were omitted. In those days, if Genesis had been written in English, it would have started: NTHBGNNNGGDCRTDTHHVNSNDTHRTH.” You would have had to spend hours or days just to find your favorite verse. Words were divided by Jesus’ time, but vowels weren’t used in Hebrew Old Testaments until the sixth century A. D. Gradually, capitalization, punctuation and paragraphing worked their way into the Old and New Testaments. But Bible chapters such as we have today didn’t come into being until the 13th century. They were the work of Stephen Langton, the Archbishop of Canterbury. For the next 200 years, the Bible, now divided into chapters, continued to be copied by hand. Then in 1448, Rabbi Nathan startled the world by breaking the Old Testament into verses. The New Testament wasn’t divided into numbered verses until 1551 when a French printer, Robert Estienne did the job. He was planning a study Bible that would have side-by-side columns in three translations when he got the idea. He was so rushed for time he decided to do the dividing on a trip from Paris to Lyons. Some people have suggested he did the work on horseback and his sometimes awkward divisions resulted when his “jogging horse bumped his pen in the wrong places.” Yet, with a few exceptions, Estienne’s divisions provide us with the verses we have today. So just as number of people were used in writing of the Bible over a period of centuries, it was the contribution of countless scribes, hundreds of years, and three men in particular—a Catholic archbishop, a Jewish rabbi and a Protestant printer—who turned “NTHBGNNNGGDCRTDTHHVNSNDTHRTH” into Genesis l:l.

Miller Clarke, Campus Life, March, 198l

The modern bible has 2 Testaments 66 separate books 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament with a total of 783,137 words in the King James Version. The longest book in the bible is Psalms. The shortest book is John 3. The Bible is one of the most popular, purchased, and sought after pieces of literature in the history of the world. It was originally written in three different languages, Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. The entire bible has been translated into 693 different languages while the New Testament has been translated into 1548 diverse languages. In 1455 Johann Gutenberg successfully printed the first bible. This is a relatively quick overview of what the Bible is. There is so much more after all, its believed to have been written over a 3000 year period.

What is the Bible Part 1

?

Never let good books take the place of the Bible. Drink from the Well, not from the streams that flow from the Well.

Amy Carmichael

Today I am going to start with prayer I want direction from God not input from outside sources, even myself. Dear Heavenly Father, as I begin this series into what the Bible is please guide us. Lord show us what you intended us to learn and give us the lessons and understanding so we know exactly what You want us to know. In Jesus Name Amen

Time and time again so many, even myself, have asked the question. What is the Bible? The secular definition of the Bible is: “the sacred scriptures of Christians comprising the Old Testament and the New Testament” The Bible is the direct word from God. It is direction for our lives and it is the one and true testament revealing to us the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Bible helps us understand what’s to come, what we can expect and ultimately eternity. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV

When we are told that it was “breathed out by God” this is in referring to the Holy SpiritBut the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. John 14:26 ESV And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. Isaiah 11:2 ESV This is how with a little bit of history and faith we know we can trust the bible. As we read and learn we will see and understand how factual the bible really is: The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they then gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.  Psalm 19:7-11 ESV

It is so awesome to know that we have been given a book that is like a Service Manual used by professionals to diagnose problems for every little item around us. Example of service manuals are automotive repair, vacuums repair, dishwasher repair, how to grow a garden, encyclopedias, the list is huge. This manual that we have been given helps us understand the situations that we face every day. Fear (Psalm 23:1-6), anger (Proverbs 14:29), dismay (1 John 5:19), Love(1 Corinthians 13:4-8), Depression (Psalm 34:17-18), Politics (1 Thessalonians 4:11-12), Laws (Romans 13:1-7), Relationships (Ephesians 4:29). The list really could never end, if you are going through something in your life it is discussed in the bible. We are told that, and shown,  For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 ESV
