I have been around Christianity since I was born and can say that I have heard many different perspectives on exactly what the bible is. Because of all of these different opinions I walked away from Christianity for about 16 years, there had to be a better way. I wasn’t wrong, I had to stop listening to people’s opinions and listen to the words that we are given from God Himself, the Bible. There’s an interesting perspective that the Bible is a nice little compilation of fairy tales, which can all be clarified with science and logic. Ultimately; the bible is a history lesson that keeps on being attacked:

Altering history by teaching manipulated stories, facts, and data is a means of promoting specific ideologies and agendas. This can be achieved by creating events that did not happen, altering events that did happen, or omitting events altogether. Over time, knowledge of the truth will die with those who lived or witnessed it, and the alternate version will be universally accepted as true. Distorting history is an effective method of erasing events from the minds of the population, of glorifying events and people in support of state ideals, and vilifying events and people in conflict with state ideals. Presenting history in a way that supports the agenda of the state, and reinforcing it through the public education system and the media can be used to control the perceptions of the populace in ways that prevent dissent and promote nationalism.

Semantic Manipulation: Semantic Manipulation is a kind of distortion of words and this is a kind of distortion of history as well. Also when we change the past meaning of words we lose touch with historical meanings of those same words.
Denialism: One of the ways to distort history is to deny that certain events happened the way that history tells us they didn’t, or to deny that they happened at all.
Cultural imperialism: The famous quote, “History is written by the victors,” may be widely disputed by historians, but history is certainly skewed toward dominant cultures that successfully practice Cultural Imperialism.
Ultra-nationalism: At the core of ultra-nationalism is the need to rewrite any history that does not agree with our view of our nation being a just and deserving nation that is a force for good in the world… or something to this effect.
Dumbing Down: Sometimes history is complicated and not black and white but mixed with varying shades of gray, blue, and… fuchsia? Whatever the exact mix of colors, this can sometimes make the past a complicated and morally ambiguous mess. This mess can be “fixed” (Dumbed Down) by taking out the questionable bits and repackaging them to fit some agenda; even if that agenda is just to feel like the world is an understandable place where villains are always beaten by unicorns riding rainbows of justice. You get the idea.
Xenophobia: History distortion can have a lot to do with distorting different cultures to make them seem less sympathetic and more evil and bad. So you look better; because you aren’t them.

The logic and absolute of science has been tested more and more; it has proven itself as what it is a “Theory” of beliefs, what one might even call a religion of faith all to its own. That is why they have something called a Hypothises. Definition of hypotheses: a proposition made as a basis for reasoning, without any assumption of its truth. Here’s a little science from the bible. It referenced the sphere that is the earth in the Old Testament, Isaiah 40:22. This was when the rest of “science” believed the earth was flat. It says that when there is severe sickness, the sick need to be quarantined, Leviticus 13:1-5. It referenced the Mountain ranges under the ocean, Psalm 104:6. The University of Leicester in 2014 proved that the measurements given for Noahs ark, Genesis 6:13-22, would have floated.

But with all of that said science has done so much for us. It helps humans understand how things work; ex. gravity, electricity, the solar system, and medicine. Science is from God, He wants us to test everything 1 John 4:1 and Romans 12:2. Science provides medical advancements that keep the diseases of old away. I am not a denier of science, in fact in a lot of cases it helps prove the “fairy tales” in the bible. Look into archeology, biblical tips on psychology, the need for companionship. God has given us a brain that is a learn, with this knowledge we have doctors and scientists that have been able to learn to do what they do. In school it is taught that the Bible is superstition that helps leaders control other people. We will talk about this later in an upcoming post.

We need to do our own research and study the Bible and not believe what others are saying. Even if you are not a believer the tips that are in this book will help you live a better life, after all what could that hurt. Some will believe that it is a book of fair tails but if we take the time to research, even though sometimes it will take a bit of effort because so much has been changed and hidden but it’s still out there. You will find how accurate it is, the Romans kept meticulous records, even in the short time I have been alive I have seen things changed and rewritten to fit agendas. I will leave with a few qutoes from history to think about:

What is the Bible Part 3 it’s the Past

I was kind of what you would call a nerd in school, I was weird, awkward, and one of my favorite subjects was History. Throughout history humans seem to repeat the same mistakes over and over again, “I can do it better this time”. So lets put that into a modern perspective; today we drive cars, back then they drove chariots, back then they even found ways not to walk.

In the past they dealt with political strife, you can read about the “Judges” in the books of Judges, read about Saul in the book of Samuel, the first Jewish king. Research the Roman, Egyption, and Chinese Empires. You’ll notice a striking resemblance to what is going on today. Back then they were trying to destroy each other at any cost, just like they are doing today. We seem to be set up in a wash rinse repeat cycle.

The diversity, political posturing, and ongoing political venues have not changed. It is still a never ending fight for who has the power. When you say the Bible happened a long time ago you are right! Does it matter today? Yes; as human beings we keep going the same direction time and time again. God gave us this owner’s manual so that we might stop this vicious circle that we cannot seem to get ourselves out of. When you read the Bible, you are taking steps to jump off the never ending rollercoaster we are on. You can exit all of its ups and downs, the going in circles and the neck breaking turns. The bible helps, when followed, so that you stop making the same mistakes over and over again.

What is the Bible Part 2 History

If someone asked you where to find the Bible verse that begins, “For God so loved the world…you’d probably know he was asking about John 3:16. If you had a Bible, you could find it for him in no time. But there was a time when no one could find a single verse in the whole Bible. There was no John 3:16, Genesis l:l or any other verse because the Bible wasn’t divided into verses or even chapters. Worse yet, there were hundreds of years when there weren’t even any word divisions. Punctuation marks, capital letters and even vowels were omitted. In those days, if Genesis had been written in English, it would have started: NTHBGNNNGGDCRTDTHHVNSNDTHRTH.” You would have had to spend hours or days just to find your favorite verse. Words were divided by Jesus’ time, but vowels weren’t used in Hebrew Old Testaments until the sixth century A. D. Gradually, capitalization, punctuation and paragraphing worked their way into the Old and New Testaments. But Bible chapters such as we have today didn’t come into being until the 13th century. They were the work of Stephen Langton, the Archbishop of Canterbury. For the next 200 years, the Bible, now divided into chapters, continued to be copied by hand. Then in 1448, Rabbi Nathan startled the world by breaking the Old Testament into verses. The New Testament wasn’t divided into numbered verses until 1551 when a French printer, Robert Estienne did the job. He was planning a study Bible that would have side-by-side columns in three translations when he got the idea. He was so rushed for time he decided to do the dividing on a trip from Paris to Lyons. Some people have suggested he did the work on horseback and his sometimes awkward divisions resulted when his “jogging horse bumped his pen in the wrong places.” Yet, with a few exceptions, Estienne’s divisions provide us with the verses we have today. So just as number of people were used in writing of the Bible over a period of centuries, it was the contribution of countless scribes, hundreds of years, and three men in particular—a Catholic archbishop, a Jewish rabbi and a Protestant printer—who turned “NTHBGNNNGGDCRTDTHHVNSNDTHRTH” into Genesis l:l.

The modern bible has 2 Testaments 66 separate books 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament with a total of 783,137 words in the King James Version. The longest book in the bible is Psalms. The shortest book is John 3. The Bible is one of the most popular, purchased, and sought after pieces of literature in the history of the world. It was originally written in three different languages, Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. The entire bible has been translated into 693 different languages while the New Testament has been translated into 1548 diverse languages. In 1455 Johann Gutenberg successfully printed the first bible. This is a relatively quick overview of what the Bible is. There is so much more after all, its believed to have been written over a 3000 year period.

Today I am going to start with prayer I want direction from God not input from outside sources, even myself. Dear Heavenly Father, as I begin this series into what the Bible is please guide us. Lord show us what you intended us to learn and give us the lessons and understanding so we know exactly what You want us to know. In Jesus Name Amen

Time and time again so many, even myself, have asked the question. What is the Bible? The secular definition of the Bible is: “the sacred scriptures of Christians comprising the Old Testament and the New Testament” The Bible is the direct word from God. It is direction for our lives and it is the one and true testament revealing to us the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Bible helps us understand what’s to come, what we can expect and ultimately eternity. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. ^{2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV}

When we are told that it was “breathed out by God” this is in referring to the Holy Spirit: But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.^{John 14:26 ESV} And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.^{Isaiah 11:2 ESV} This is how with a little bit of history and faith we know we can trust the bible. As we read and learn we will see and understand how factual the bible really is: The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they then gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. ^{Psalm 19:7-11 ESV}

It is so awesome to know that we have been given a book that is like a Service Manual used by professionals to diagnose problems for every little item around us. Example of service manuals are automotive repair, vacuums repair, dishwasher repair, how to grow a garden, encyclopedias, the list is huge. This manual that we have been given helps us understand the situations that we face every day. Fear (Psalm 23:1-6), anger (Proverbs 14:29), dismay (1 John 5:19), Love(1 Corinthians 13:4-8), Depression (Psalm 34:17-18), Politics (1 Thessalonians 4:11-12), Laws (Romans 13:1-7), Relationships (Ephesians 4:29). The list really could never end, if you are going through something in your life it is discussed in the bible. We are told that, and shown, For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. ^{Hebrews 4:12 ESV}

Grace

Everyday there is something that presents it’s self that we have to make decisions that will affect the way we live. Decisions about the way we act, and decisions that will affect our friends and family. If it wasn’t for grace my imperfections would sink me like a ship that has run aground.

Living by grace instead of by works means you are free from the performance treadmill. It means God has already given you an A when you deserved an F; He has already given you a full day’s pay even though you may have worked only one hour. It means you don’t have to perform certain spiritual disciplines to earn God’s approval. Jesus Christ has already done that for you. You are loved and accepted by God through the merit of Jesus, and you are blessed by God through the merit of Jesus. Nothing you ever do will cause Him to love you any more or any less. He loves you strictly by His grace given to you through Jesus.

A Lack of Knowledge

Caution

In the book of Hosea, we are given a harsh but eye opening rebuke; My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge ^{Hosea 4:6 ESV} We are always so “busy” to read the bible, and to spend time praying and getting to know God. I am not trying to throw stones I am guilty of it also. After a long hard day we want to come home sit down and relax. We have put in so many hours or getting up fifteen minutes early will take a few minutes of desperately need sleep. We can admit we can find an extra 10 mins here or there that we could spare. There are many things and issues that distract us and take away the time we have. What is 10 mins. in the scope of eternity: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 ESV

Perspective

Our lives are so short compared to the opportunity that we have been given through a life following Jesus Christ. We have a decision that can be made that will end with two separate but important results. One living with the best Dad you could ask for. The other decision is living with an abusive guardian that will torture you for the rest of eternity. In reality our lives are short and pass by so fast. We need to make that decision as soon as we can. Like Christ’s return we do not know the time or the number of days that we have. We have not been told that we are going to be perfect. There was only one that walked this earth that was perfect, His name was Jesus Christ. Do not beat yourself up when making a mistake ask for forgiveness and do your best not to do it again. For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. ^{James 3:2 ESV}

Rebuked

There will be some that accept the lie that there is nothing, it is sad what do they have to live for. They will belittle some, yell and scream at others, and they will try to make you doubt what you are doing. Stand firm and pray for them be the light they need. Like moths to a lamp, they will flock to what is good, after all isn’t that what we all want? And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. ^{2 Corinthians 4:3-6 ESV}

Be the light and let God sow the seeds that have been planted by the light and love that you have shared. Remember, the God of this world has been around longer than we have. He is jealous and wants to destroy every thing that God, the one true God has created. The devil has created so much division in the world. Looking around, the gospel is not the only thing being rebuked. Families, truth, science, even common sense. I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive. ^{Romans 16:17-18 ESV}

Smooth Talkers

There are so many things when we look around that are deceiving massive amounts of people. If we know the Bible and what it says we will create a huge road block that is hard to bypass, like a hedge of protection. There are so many versions of people trying to be spiritual. Different ways to make it to God, those claiming theirs is the right way, do not be deceived. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. ^{Matthew 24:5-14ESV}

When we have a question, a problem, need encouragement or anything else God wrote it down so we have His help in everything! All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.^{2 Timothy 3: 16-17}

Division

It Has To Stop

There seems to be something going on everywhere we turn. The division that has become an expected normal. The violence that appears to have gasoline being pored on it, always keeping it going. The lies that are getting told and accepted as truth. It feels like we are in a flood with our heads under the water not being able to breathe. Never forget God is there to help you walk through everything that is going on. No matter if it is around the world or if it is your personal life He has your back.

What God Says

I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. ^{Romans 16:17 ESV}

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, I feel like I am surrounded by so much uneasiness, there seems to be turmoil every place I turn. Lord I need You. As I open this bible show me the direction and directive that You intend me to walk, Lord surround me with Your fiery chariots that Elisha had around him in 2 Kings 6:17 and have them remove the attacks, whispers, and distractions. In Jesus Name Amen

By The Hand

Validation

You know how much you appreciate it when those who you love talk to you and validate that you exist. Thinking about it in this perspective it gives a little insight into the relationship that is being built when doing both of these. Get to know Him, you will not regret it!

There are times when we get comfortable in the freedom that’s been given to us. Sometimes with out realizing it our focus gets turned to ourselves. We don’t always know what’s best. We forget all that God has done, is doing, and will do. We make decisions that do not take into account what is best in God’s eyes. Instead it is what enhances our agenda. Embrace the freedom that’s been given to you by God. Let go of self. When you control everything it can become overpowering. When you turn it over to God the peace is awesome. Let God guide every foot step so that the path ahead is sure and true never having to worry about a cover up.

God’s Direction

Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. 1 Peter 2:16 ESV

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, I give all of this to you, Lord, I am on my knees. Give me the direction you want me to go, block my input so that I will only see what You want. Light the way and make it so bright that I can see and not doubt. Lord take the scales off of my eyes so that I will see through unfettered eyes. When it Doesn’t Make Sense

Even when they spit in your face, even when they spread lies, even when they hate you. Take care of them and never allow yourself to mirror their attacks. These attacks are led by the devil. Take the higher road.

To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:20‭-‬21 ESV

Dear Heavenly Father, as I walk through this world the way it is, with all of it’s distractions and temptations give me the direction of the Holy Spirit. Just give me that slap in the back of the head that lets me know that I am going in the wrong direction. Give me your awesome comfort when I feel lost Lord. Thank you for all that You do. In Jesus Name Amen

What are Following

The Sunday before He gave His life on the cross so that our sins might be forgiven. As He rode into town the people on the streets knew He was the “King”. When he got all the way into town the “religious” elite who “knew everything” and didn’t want to loose their power attacked and crucified Him a few days later. Remember to depend on Him He gave us the word to live by, know the bible so that you’ll never be deceived. Test everything by the owners manual that we have to reference, don’t trust me or anyone else read your bible and trust the lord.

He Came for You

So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” John 12:13 ESV

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for how awesome You are and for all of the blessings that You have given to me. You have walked beside me when I felt like I could not take another step. You have given me breath in my lungs when I felt like I could not take another breath. You have opened my eyes when I was being deceived and You have kept me looking forward when all of the distractions were so great that I to this day do not know how I walked through it except that You had me. Lord help me to see the path through the fog so that I am never misguided or fall for those things I want to hear but are not from You. In Jesus Name Amen.

Let Go

In God’s Hands

We seem to have a lot of “stuff” that controls our actions. Have we ever asked ourselves if it’s truly what God wants or is it our own ambitions guiding the path we’re traveling. I can tell you that I sometimes convince myself that my personal wants are from God but if I truly take a look I realize I’m doing it out of a motive that had nothing to do with God but everything to do with my own gratification. I know that it is hard to let someone else take the wheel. Through experience I have learned that when I let Him take control of things are always better. Not always smooth or for that matter easy, but always has been the right thing in the end.

Always Trust Him

“Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” Luke 22:42 ESV

Prayer

Fight for it

We’re going to have times in our lives that everything around us is making us feel surrounded like we cannot breath. Do you realize that you are a child of the creator of everything. You, through Him have overcome this stop listening to the whispers, the negative people, even yourself. Have faith understand it’s done you’ve overcome the “stuff” DON’T let it come back fight it you’ve got this He is there with you walking beside you.

Focus

Impassable

Has the “stuff” of the last 12 months made you feel like there has been an impassable barrier that is impossible to navigate? Have you convinced yourself that this barricade is something that you will never be able to traverse? Do you realize that you have someone on your side that with a thought can calm the storm (Luke 8:22-25), with a thought can move a mountain (Mark 11:23) and part the waters (Exodus 14:21) when you need to #moveforward?

Make the first move, know that you can do it you have a support system that has been granted to you through the power of God. Do not be afraid, fall on your knees and pray He is with you: Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha 2 Kings 6:17 ESV. Do not try to go into this battle alone: For you equipped me with strength for the battle; you made those who rise against me sink under me Psalm 18:39 ESV.

Distractions

In the world today there are so many #distractions. There is always something that takes you away from getting to the point you need to be. These distractions will take you away from simple stuff like house work, a job, family and so much more. Sometimes it’s temptation; someone that you are interested in that you should not even consider, or porn (which supports #humantrafficking) a purchase that you do not need, or even a new and better way to believe. You might be listening to people who are telling you what you should be or even how you cannot do it, you know “you’re not good enough”, He tells you that you are: ^{1 Corinthians 3:16-17 ESV}. People/yourself telling you that you’re dumb, you’re weak, or you do not fit societies “norm”. These distractions that we have put in front of our path are road blocks that the devil uses to stop us from getting rid of the “stuff” that needs to go!

The definition of Distraction: a state of mental uncertainty, a state of wildly excited activity or emotion, the act or activity of providing pleasure or amusement especially for the public (Social Media), someone or something that provides amusement or enjoyment.

Stop the distractions with these steps that God told us to do: Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil. ^{Proverbs 4:25-27 ESV} So ask yourself what is causing the uncertainty to complete the task in front of you? Is there something that is “Waxing your ego” causing a interruption? Do you sit down in front of a screen and the next thing you know you have lost 2 hours of your time? If it is distracting you through it in the garbage move on and don’t look back! No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. ^{1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV} God’s #gotyourback all you need to do is #trust Him and #moveforward. Make the #move and know that what’s behind you stays there it is not worth your time, invest your time in something that is worth it!

Why do we want to keep on putting ourselves in that cage that Jesus unlocked. He knew us before we walked on this earth Jerimiah 1:5. He chose you because He knew what you have in you and knows the strength that you have. He chose you for a time like this, to stand firm, justified through His name. You’re back is covered by the greatest army that has ever been created 2 Kings 6:17. Do not submit, do not back down, when it is put in front of you move forward do not step back. Yell “bring it” this “stuff” does not control you, it is not who you are. You are a child of God sent to fight for those who can’t Isaiah 1:17 seek justice, correct oppression. Destroy the cage that you have put yourself in and never go back God has plans for you and is waiting to get them done.

What Way do I Go

What’s Going on

Don’t be confused: For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.^{1 Corinthians 14:33 ESV}Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. ^{Hebrews 13:8 ESV}Let my cry come before you, O Lord; give me understanding according to your word! ^{Psalm 119:169 ESV} I cannot say this enough; God has got your back; pray the prayer that Elisha prayed: Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. ^{2 Kings 6: 17} Pray to have your eyes opened so that you may see Gods plan for you, when this plan becomes apparent you will be able to see the “chariots of fire” that He has given you to fight with. He’s Been in Front of You

Something to Think about

Every year we celebrate a day that I will say was one of the most important days in the history of the whole entire world. You see three days ago He was tortured, humiliated, and put to death over false acquisitions. We come together we celebrate with little eggs talk about bunnies, baby chicks and buckets full of candy (Yes we have kids and do it to). Do you know what Easter actually is a celebration of? This is the Day that Jesus, like He said: “Destroy this temple and I will build it again in three days.” ^{John 2:19 ESV}, would come back from the tomb as proof of who He was. There are a lot who have heard that parable; I am going to focus on one little point that does not get mentioned a lot. When the disciples found out that He was not in the tomb, Mary Magdalene said: “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they put him.” ^{John 20:2 ESV} Her first reaction was not, “oh wow Jesus has risen from the dead” it was someone stole His body. She was with Jesus all the time and did not see or realize what was in front of her and the disciples were not much better.

Standing in Front of Them

Mary went to the disciples and told them that someone stole the body, by their reaction they had a normal Human response. They were angry they ran as fast as they could irritated that someone would do such a thing: So Peter and the other follower started going to the tomb. They were both running, but the other follower ran faster than Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent down and looked in. He saw the pieces of linen cloth lying there, but he did not go in. Then Simon Peter finally reached the tomb and went in. He saw the pieces of linen lying there. He also saw the cloth that had been around Jesus’ head. It was folded up and laid in a different place from the pieces of linen. Then the other follower went in—the one who had reached the tomb first. He saw what had happened and believed. (These followers did not yet understand from the Scriptures that Jesus must rise from death.) ^{John 20:3-9 ESV} It says they believed not that Jesus had rose from the dead but that someone had removed Jesus’s body from the tomb. Later Jesus did appear to the disciples Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them. He said, “Peace be with you!” As soon as he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. ^{John 20:19-20 ESV}There was one that was not there when Jesus appeared and showed them that He was alive and well. His disbelief was so strong he even said until I can actually put my finger through the nail holes and thrust my hand into His side where Jesus had been cut open on the cross, without this there is no way he would ever believe. This disciple was: Thomas (called Didymus) was one of the twelve, but he was not with the other followers when Jesus came. They told him, “We saw the Lord.” Thomas said, “That’s hard to believe. I will have to see the nail holes in his hands, put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side. Only then will I believe it.” A week later the followers were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. The doors were locked, but Jesus came and stood among them. He said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here. Look at my hands. Put your hand here in my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to Jesus, “My Lord and my God!”^{John 20:24-27 ESV}

Standing in Front of You

We are the same way as the disciples, we know, there is enough recorded proof, and no matter how it is explained away Jesus lived and there is proof. So every year we go through the motions, watch the Easter movies about the bunny, get a big basket full of candy, we run around and celebrate the hidden eggs. But what are we celebrating? I do not think it is bad to celebrate Easter and the opportunity to bring your family together, family is so important. Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.^{Psalm 127:3-5 ESV} Is what I am trying to say is that it is awesome to get our families together when ever we can but let’s talk about what this day represents. We have so much that God has provided for us to know Him better than any other generation that has ever lived. We have access to bible study tools like e-Sword* for desktops or the Blue Letter Bible* for online and phone. We have Bibles online* that will read out load to you and tools to look up Subjects* that you want to learn more about and a cross reference tool* as well. Jesus is trying to reach out more than any other time, His word has been translated into so many different languages. He can now touch you no matter where we are in this world. He is responsible for giving people the knowledge to create these tools that we have been given to get to know Him better. He is reaching out to us: Behold, I stand at the door and knock. Jesus Prayed for You

“Father, the time has come. Give glory to your Son so that the Son can give glory to you. You gave the Son power over all people so that he could give eternal life to all those you have given to him. And this is eternal life: that people can know you, the only true God, and that they can know Jesus Christ, the one you sent. I finished the work you gave me to do. I brought you glory on earth. And now, Father, give me glory with you. Give me the glory I had with you before the world was made.

“You gave me some people from the world. I have shown them what you are like. They belonged to you, and you gave them to me. They have obeyed your teaching. Now they know that everything I have came from you. I told them the words you gave me, and they accepted them. They realized the fact that I came from you and believed that you sent me. “I am not asking you to take them out of the world. But I am asking that you keep them safe from the Evil One. They don’t belong to the world, just as I don’t belong to the world. Make them ready for your service through your truth. Your teaching is truth. I have sent them into the world, just as you sent me into the world. I am making myself completely ready to serve you. I do this for them, so that they also might be fully qualified for your service.

“I pray not only for these followers but also for those who will believe in me because of their teaching. Father, I pray that all who believe in me can be one. You are in me and I am in you. I pray that they can also be one in us. Then the world will believe that you sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me. Our Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you; it is unimaginable to think that all you have done for us and continue to do for us. You are waiting for us to accept You into our lives even though we don’t answer the door after You have knocked over and over again. Sometimes You are beating on the door hard enough that it seems like it would burst open shattering into pieces. In Jesus Name Amen.

Crucifixion, His Gift to Us

Dear Heavenly Father, the sacrifice that You gave is unimaginable, You humbled Yourself by coming to this world. You didn’t have to! Then from the start You suffered humiliations that would of been unbearable, beaten almost to the point of death and then nailed to a cross and treated like a criminal. You did all of this so that I could be with You and know You; You knew there is no way that I could be perfect. No matter how good I am, no matter how hard I try I can’t do it without You. You walked this path of heartache and dishonor for everyone not just a few. Even with our imperfections You gave Your life up on the cross to cover our wrongdoings with Your blood. Thank you Lord. In Jesus Name Amen

Something to Think About

There is not much that can be said to add to this, His word explains it best. When reading this, read it slowly, praying and reflecting on what it says, let it absorb into your mind. He did so much for us even though we do not deserve it. How many people do you know that would suffer this much just to save your life?

An Unimaginable Sacrifice

The fact is, it was our suffering he took on himself; he bore our pain. But we thought that God was punishing him, that God was beating him for something he did. But he was being punished for what we did. He was crushed because of our guilt. He took the punishment we deserved, and this brought us peace. We were healed because of his pain. We had all wandered away like sheep. We had gone our own way.

And yet the Lord put all our guilt on him. He was treated badly, but he never protested. He said nothing, like a lamb being led away to be killed. He was like a sheep that makes no sound as its wool is being cut off. He never opened his mouth to defend himself. He was taken away by force and judged unfairly. The people of his time did not even notice that he was killed. But he was put to death for the sins of his people. He had done no wrong to anyone. He had never even told a lie. But he was buried among the wicked. His tomb was with the rich. ^{Isaiah 53:4-9 ERV}

He entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption (recovery). For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify (approve) for the purification (sanitization) of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God. Therefore he is the mediator (referee) of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance (legacy), since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions (wrongdoings) committed under the first covenant. ^{Hebrews 9:12-15} ^AMP

Palm Sunday

Dear Heavenly Father, the strength and the tenacity You had knowing that You were going to have to suffer unimaginable pain both mentally and physically. Lord You did not waver, unmovable in everyway to endure the humiliation and physical torture just so that I can be with you in Heaven. I thank you from every part of my being, and cannot wait to give You a hug and tell You how much that means to me. In Jesus Name Amen

Make Way

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.^{Zechariah 9:9 ESV}The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written:

“Fear not, daughter of Zion;

behold, your king is coming,

sitting on a donkey’s colt!”

His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him. The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to bear witness. The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign. So the Pharisees said to one another, “You see that you are gaining nothing. Look, the world has gone after him.”^{John 12:12-19 ESV}

We know that in just a few days the leaders in Jerusalem will crucify Jesus because they felt threatened, they were afraid that they would loose their power. We all can learn a few things from what happened to Jesus, these leaders were blinded by their personal asperations, ignoring what they had in front of them. Jesus loves us so much that He even died for those that had Him nailed to the cross. Is there “stuff” that holds you back from seeing what is in front of you? It could be in the way of your family, friends, and even your salvation. We need to make sure that our “stuff” is in order so that it does not become a distraction from everything that is important. Jesus is our guide and will take us through turmoil, anxiety, and distractions. God has given us a owners manual that will show us how to deal with all the interference, sometimes it is like listening to an AM radio and all you can hear is static. As humans we seem to repeat history over and over again and in the bible, the entire bible, we are shown how to navigate the sometimes rough roads we have ahead.

Celebration Time

The palm-tree has ever been an emblem of victory and triumph; Cicero calls one that had won many prizes plurimarum palmarum homo – a man of many palms. Christ was now by his death to conquer principalities and powers, and therefore it was fit that he should have the victor’s palm borne before him; though he was but girding on the harness, yet he could boast as though he had put it off. ^{Mathew Henry’s Commentary on the Whole Bible}

Sing aloud, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel! Rejoice and exult with all your heart, O daughter of Jerusalem! The Lord has taken away the judgments against you; he has cleared away your enemies. Paths Traveled

In my life for some reason I seem to go to God last, I know better because He has always has taken care of me, He has always comforted me and when I look back it has always been something that has taught me what I needed (I don’t think I am the only one). If I would consult the one and only, the creator of the world, it would lesson some of the heartache we go through unnecessarily. I say unnecessarily because when we let Him be the guide for every path we travel we find out over and over again that He’s got it under control.

He’s Got This

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. ^{Isaiah 43:2 ESV}But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. ^{Isaiah 40:31 ESV} Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. ^{Isaiah 41:10 ESV}

Testing God

Dear Heavenly Father, with everything that is happening right now around the world there is so much that I do not understand. Lord be my guide, be the light so I can see through the darkness, and Lord open my eyes so that I can see what you want me to do. I know I am only one part of the body and that I cannot do what others are doing, but I want to do what You want me to do Lord. Be my escort as I face this path. In Jesus Name Amen

Fear Not

I have been talking with people who are afraid, frustrated, and confused. It is normal to be afraid when there is something going on that can harm us and even worse that we cannot control. God has told us over and over again not to be afraid, I know it is hard when looking around and everything seems to be going crazy. Being concerned for family, friends, and loved ones recall and meditate on what God says: For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” ^{Romans 8:15 ESV} For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” ^{Isaiah 41:13 ESV} “Do not fear, only believe.” ^{Mark 5:36 ESV}

Frustration

We look around and see people with Covid-19 licking toilet paper in grocery stores and other people helping in ways that you cannot because of your circumstances, and this makes us want to do something. This is so frustrating; we see the guy in the grocery store trying to get people sick, this brings feelings of disgust and raises the question WHY. People are hoarding toilet paper, because of fear, not leaving anything for others, on the positive note there are people handing out food and helping others, but if you helped there is a good possibility that it would make you sick. God tells us that there is a time for everything: For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace. ^{Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 ESV} This frustration is normal but remember God’s got this He is in control you can do your part and pray be the support for those who have none; call, send someone a thank you letter. Doing this is something Timothy told us to do: First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. ^{1 Timothy 2:1-2 ESV}

Confusion

Don’t be confused: For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.^{1 Corinthians 14:33 ESV}Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. ^{Hebrews 13:8 ESV}Let my cry come before you, O Lord; give me understanding according to your word! ^{Psalm 119:169 ESV} I cannot say this enough; God has got your back pray the prayer that Elisha prayed: Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. ^{2 Kings 6: 17} Pray to have your eyes opened so that you may see Gods plan for you, when this plan becomes apparent you will be able to see the “chariots of fire” that He has given you to fight with. Yours will be different than others that is why we are told that we are one part of the whole body: For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.^{Romans 12:3-5 ESV}Become the “one part” that He has intended you to be.

We have the authority to tread on serpents and scorpions

God has given us so much, His grace is over-whelming! The power that has been given to us with the faith of a mustard seed will allow us to move mountains; “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him ^{Matthew 11:22-23} Moving beyond that we are told of the authority that we, as Christians, have been given. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. ^{Luke 10:19 ESV} They will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.” ^{Mark 16:18 ESV} You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot. ^{Psalm 91:13 ESV} When Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and put them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat and fastened on his hand. ^{Acts 28:3 ES} When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. ^{Isaiah 43:2 ESV}That is some kind of awesomeness, to know that God takes care of us with every step taken.

We must test all things

With all of this authority that we have been given there comes great responsibility. With that responsibility making sure that when using this authority it is not used in the wrong way. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. ^{Romans 12:2 ESV} Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test! ^{2 Corinthians 13:5 ESV} Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. ^{1 John 4:1 ESV}But test everything; hold fast what is good. ^{1 Thessalonians 5:21 ESV} “But he knows where I am and what I’ve done. He can cross-examine me all he wants, and I’ll pass the test with honors. I’ve followed him closely, my feet in his footprints, not once swerving from his way. I’ve obeyed every word he’s spoken, and not just obeyed his advice—I’ve treasured it.^{Job 23:10-12 MSG}

Why do we think we need to test Christ?

Where does it say test God? I do not see anything about testing God, I do however see over and over again test the spirits, men and ourselves. Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, “‘He will command his angels concerning you,’ and “‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’” Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’” ^{Matthew 4:5-7 ESV}Looking at that gives complete insight on who likes to bring up questions about faith and trust. We must not put Christ to the test, as some of them did and were destroyed by serpents, ^{1 Corinthians 10:9 ESV} When we look at a different version it really puts it into a whole different perspective of how important it is that God is not tested. We must be on guard so that we never get caught up in wanting our own way as they did. And we must not turn our religion into a circus as they did—“First the people partied, then they threw a dance.” They paid for that, remember, with 23,000 deaths in one day! We must never try to get Christ to serve us instead of us serving him; they tried it, and God launched an epidemic of poisonous snakes. We must be careful not to stir up discontent; discontent destroyed them. These are all warning markers—danger!—in our history books, written down so that we don’t repeat their mistakes. Our positions in the story are parallel—they at the beginning, we at the end—and we are just as capable of messing it up as they were. Don’t be so naive and self-confident. You’re not exempt. You could fall flat on your face as easily as anyone else. Forget about self-confidence; it’s useless. Cultivate God-confidence. ^{1 Corinthians 10:6-12 MSG}

Guilt

This is not meant to call anyone out, this is for those of us that need to stay home instead of going out and trying to help. STOP beating yourselves up! But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect. 1 Peter 3:15 ESV I know it is frustrating because lending a hand when there are others in need is second nature. We have been told to: Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. ^{Ephesians 5:15-17 ESV}Ask yourself am I going to be better trying to lend support in different ways that do not require walking through a fire that God did not intend to be walked. After doing this, remember, God is not someone who condemns us: Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. ^{Romans 5:1 ESV}There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. ^{Romans 8:1 ESV} Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. ^{James 4:7 ESV} Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. ^{1 Peter 5:7 ESV} For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. ^{Hebrews 4:15 ESV} Do not fall for the lie being whispered in your ear that by not being present for certain things you are not doing the work that God wants you to do. Read that again, “works”. And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.” ^{Isaiah 6:7 ESV}

Do not be deceived, Armor up!

The best way to shut out these whispers that keep on coming through is to armor up, remember that the devil disguises himself as an angel of light: And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. ^{2 Corinthians 11:1}^{4 ESV} I know this is repeating this point but it cannot be stressed enough! When reading the bible, our owner’s manual, it’s seen that satan even tried to deceive Jesus while He was being tempted: Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, “He will command his angels concerning you, and On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.” Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.” ^{Matthew 4:5-7} Looking at this passage helps one realize the devil has no shame! I know that the devil has been glamorized, even made into the victim, on TV, when looking at that it kind of helps us grasp the concept that it is part of satins grater plan, the devil has had thousands of years to perfect his approach. ARMOR UP: Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak. ^{Ephesians 6:10-20 ESV}
